8and David consulted our Lord, saying: Shall I pursue these thieves, and shall I take them or no? And our Lord said to him: Pursue them: for thou shalt take them without doubt, and take from them the prædam: a hunted animal, quarry; spoil, plunder, booty taken in war.and Dauid consulted our Lord, saying: Shal I pursue these theeues, and shal I take them or no? 21And David came to the two hundred men, which being weary had stayed, neither were able to follow David, and he had bidden them to rest in the Torrent Besor: who came forth to meet David, and the people that were with him. 22And every pessimus: mischievous, badly behaved; wicked, worthless, and wicked fellow of the men, that had gone with David answering, said: Because they came not with us, we will not give them any thing of the prey, which we have recovered: but let their wife and children suffice every man, whom when they have received, let them depart.And euerie naughtie, and wicked felow of the men, that had gone with Dauid answering, sayd: Because they came not with vs, we wil not geue them anie thing of the praye, which we haue recouered: but let their wife and children suffice euerie man, whom when they haue receiued, let them depart.Respondensque omnis vir pessimus et iniquus de viris qui ierant cum David, dixit : Quia non venerunt nobiscum, non dabimus eis quidquam de præda quam eruimus : sed sufficiat unicuique uxor sua et filii : quos cum acceperint, recedant.
23But David said: You shall not do so my brethren, of these things, which our Lord hath delivered to us, and hath kept us, and hath given the thieves, that were broken out against us, into our hands:But Dauid sayd: You shal not doe so my brethren, of these thinges, which our Lord hath deliuered to vs, and hath kept vs, and hath geuen the theeues, that were broken out against vs, into our handes:Dixit autem David : Non sic facietis, fratres mei, de his quæ tradidit nobis Dominus, et custodivit nos, et dedit latrunculos qui eruperant adversum nos, in manus nostras :
24neither shall any man hear you upon this talk. For there, shall be equal portion of him that went down into battle, and of him that abode at the baggage, and they shall divide alike.neither shal anie man heare you vpon this talke.
