1 Kings — Book front (modern spelling)
The Original Douay-Rheims (1582/1609), orthography normalized only. This is the title leaf; the book opens directly with Chap. I — there is no separate full-page argument leaf, the brief italic intro under the title is the argument of Chap. I (see chapter-001.spelling.md).
Book title

(The Hebrew title is Samuel; the Latin and English tradition counts it the first of the four books of Kings = 1–4 Kings.)
