5And they were shut up by him in towers, and he came near to them, and anathematizavit: devoted them to destruction, put under the ban them, and burnt their towers with fire, with all that were in them.And they were shut vp by him in towres, & he came nere to them, & a anathematized them, & burnt their towres with fyre, with al that were in them.✦Et conclusi sunt ab eo in turribus, et applicuit ad eos, et anathematizavit eos, et incendit turres eorum igni cum omnibus qui in eis erant.

18And he left Joseph the son of Zacharie, and Azarias captains of the people with the residue of the army in Jewry to keep it:And he left Ioseph the sonne of Zacharie, and Azarias captaynes of the people with the residue of the armie in Iurie to keepe it:Et reliquit Josephum filium Zachariæ, et Azariam, duces populi, cum residuo exercitu in Judæa ad custodiam :
19and he commanded them, saying: Be ye over this people: and make no battle against the heathen, till we return.and he commanded them, saying: Be ye ouer this people: & make no battel against the heathen, til we returne.✦et præcepit illis, dicens : Præestote populo huic : et nolite bellum committere adversum gentes, donec revertamur.

26and that many of them were comprehended in Barasa, and Bosor, and in Alimis, and in Casphor, and Mageth, and Carnaim, all these cities munitæ: fortified, and great.and that manie of them were comprehended in Barasa, and Bosor, and in Alimis, and in Casphor, and Mageth, and Carnaim, al these cities fensed, and great.✦et quia multi ex eis comprehensi sunt in Barasa, et Bosor, et in Alimis, et in Casphor, et Mageth, et Carnaim : hæ omnes civitates munitæ et magnæ.

28And Judas turned, and his army the way into Bosor suddenly, and took the city: and he slew every male in the edge of the sword, and took all their spoils, and burnt it with fire.And Iudas turned, and his armie the way into Bosor sodenly, and tooke the citie: and he slew euerie male in the edge of the sword, and tooke al their spoiles, and burnt it with fire.✦Et convertit Judas et exercitus ejus viam in desertum Bosor repente, et occupavit civitatem : et occidit omnem masculum in ore gladii, et accepit omnia spolia eorum, et succendit eam igni.

32and he said to his host: Fight ye to day for your brethren.and he sayd to his host: Fight ye to day for your bretheren.✦et dixit exercitui suo : Pugnate hodie pro fratribus vestris.

35And Judas turned aside into Maspha, and expugned, and took it, and he slew every male thereof, and he took the spoils thereof, and burnt it with fire.And Iudas turned aside into Maspha, and expugned, and tooke it, and he slew euerie male therof, and he tooke the spoiles therof, and burnt it with fyre.✦Et divertit Judas in Maspha, et expugnavit, et cepit eam : et occidit omnem masculum ejus, et sumpsit spolia ejus, et succendit eam igni.
36From thence he marched, and took Casbon, and Mageth, and Bosor, and the rest of the cities of Galaad.From thence he marched, and tooke Casbon, and Mageth, and Bosor, and the rest of the cities of Galaad.✦Inde perrexit, et cepit Casbon, et Mageth, et Bosor, et reliquas civitates Galaaditidis.

38And Judas sent to view the army: and they reported unto him, saying: That all the nations, that are round about us, are assembled against us, an army exceeding great:And Iudas sent to vewe the armie: and they reported vnto him, saying: That al the nations, that are round about vs, are assembled against vs, an armie exceding great:Et misit Judas speculari exercitum : et renuntiaverunt ei, dicentes : Quia convenerunt ad eum omnes gentes quæ in circuitu nostro sunt, exercitus multus nimis :
39and they have hired the Arabians to help them, and they have camped beyond the torrent, being ready to come unto thee into battle. And Judas went to meet them.and they haue hyred the Arabians to helpe them, and they haue camped beyond the torrent, being readie to come vnto thee into battel. And Iudas went to meete them.et Arabas conduxerunt in auxilium sibi, et castra posuerunt trans torrentem, parati ad te venire in prælium. Et abiit Judas obviam illis.
40And Timothee said to the princes of his army: When Judas shall approach, and his army to the torrent of water: if he pass over unto us first, we shall not be able to sustain him: because prevailing he will prevail against us.And Timothee sayd to the princes of his armie: When Iudas shal approch, and his armie to the torrent of water: if he passe ouer vnto vs first, we shal not be able to sustaine him: because preuayling he wil preuaile against vs.✦Et ait Timotheus principibus exercitus sui : Cum appropinquaverit Judas, et exercitus ejus, ad torrentem aquæ : si transierit ad nos prior, non poterimus sustinere eum, quia potens poterit adversum nos ;
41but if he be afraid to pass over, and camp without the river, let us pass over to them, and we shall prevail against him.but if he be afrayd to passe ouer, and campe without the riuer, let vs passe ouer to them, and we shal preuaile against him.✦si vero timuerit transire, et posuerit castra extra flumen, transfretamus ad eos, et poterimus adversus illum.

48saying: Let us pass through your land, and go into our country: and no man shall hurt you, only on foot we will pass. 52And they passed over Jordan in the great plain, against the face of Bethsan.And they passed ouer Iordan in the great playne, against the face of Bethsan.✦Et transgressi sunt Jordanem in campo magno, contra faciem Bethsan.
53And Judas gathered together the extremos: the hindmost, the stragglers at the rear, and he exhorted the people throughout all the way, till they came into the land of Juda:And Iudas gathered together the hinmost, and he exhorted the people throughout al the way, til they came into the land of Iuda:Et erat Judas congregans extremos, et exhortabatur populum per totam viam, donec venirent in terram Juda :

57and he said: Let us also make us a name, and let us go fight against the heathen, that are round about us.and he sayd: Let vs also make vs a name, and let vs goe fight against the heathen, that are round about vs.et dixit : Faciamus et ipsi nobis nomen, et eamus pugnare adversus gentes quæ in circuitu nostro sunt.
58And he commanded them that were in his army, and they went to Jamnia.And he commanded them that were in his armie, and they went to Iamnia.Et præcepit his qui erant in exercitu suo, et abierunt Jamniam.

60And Joseph and Azarias were chased in flight even unto the borders of Jewry: and there fell that day of the people of Israel about two thousand men,And Ioseph and Azarias were chased in flight euen vnto the borders of Iurie: and there fel that day of the people of Israel about two thousand men,Et fugati sunt Josephus et Azarias usque in fines Judææ : et ceciderunt illo die de populo Israël ad duo millia viri, et facta est fuga magna in populo :
