Our Lord therefore sent Nathan to David: who when he was come to him, he said unto him: There were two men in one city, the one rich, and the other poor.OVr Lord therefore sent Nathan to Dauid: who when he was come to him, he sayd vnto him: There were two men in one citie, the one riche, and the other poore.✦Misit ergo Dominus Nathan ad David : qui cum venisset ad eum, dixit ei : Duo viri erant in civitate una, unus dives, et alter pauper.
2The rich man had exceeding many sheep, and oxen:The riche man had exceeding manie sheepe, and oxen:Dives habebat oves et boves plurimos valde.
3but the poor man had nothing at all, beside one little ewe, which he had bought and nourished, and which had grown in his house together with his children, eating of his bread, and drinking of his cup, and sleeping in his bosom: and it was to him as a daughter.but the poore man had nothing at al, beside one litle ewe, which he had bought and nourished, and which had growen in his house together with his children, eating of his bread, and drinking of his cuppe, and sleping in his bosome: and it was to him as a daughter.Pauper autem nihil habebat omnino, præter ovem unam parvulam quam emerat et nutrierat, et quæ creverat apud eum cum filiis ejus simul, de pane illius comedens, et de calice ejus bibens, et in sinu illius dormiens : eratque illi sicut filia.
4And when a certain stranger was come to the rich man, he sparing to take of his own sheep and oxen, to make a feast for that stranger, which was come to him, took the poor man's ewe, and made meats thereof for the man that was come to him.And when a certayne stranger was come to the riche man, he sparing to take of his owne sheepe and oxen, to make a feast for that stranger, which was come to him, tooke the poore mans ewe, and made meates therof for the man that was come to him.Cum autem peregrinus quidam venisset ad divitem, parcens ille sumere de ovibus et de bobus suis, ut exhiberet convivium peregrino illi qui venerat ad se, tulit ovem viri pauperis, et præparavit cibos homini qui venerat ad se.
5And David being exceedingly wroth with indignation against that man, said to Nathan: Our Lord liveth, the man that hath done this is the child of filius mortis: one doomed to die, deserving of death.And Dauid being exceedingly wrath with indignation against that man, sayd to Nathan: Our Lord liueth, the man that hath done this is the childe of death.✦Iratus autem indignatione David adversus hominem illum nimis, dixit ad Nathan : Vivit Dominus, quoniam filius mortis est vir qui fecit hoc.

8and gave thee the house of thy lord, and the wives of thy lord in thy bosom, and have given thee the house of Israel and Juda: and if these things be little, I will add far greater things unto thee.and gaue thee the house of thy lord, and the wiues of thy lord in thy bosome, and haue geuen thee the house of Israel and Iuda: and if these thinges be litle, I wil adde farre greater thinges vnto thee.✦et dedi tibi domum domini tui, et uxores domini tui in sinu tuo, dedique tibi domum Israël et Juda : et si parva sunt ista, adjiciam tibi multo majora.
9Why therefore hast thou contemned the word of the lord, that thou wouldest do evil in my sight? 11Therefore thus saith our Lord: Behold, I will raise up thee evil out of thine own house, and will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give them to thy neighbour, and he shall sleep with thy wives in the sight of this Sun.Therfore thus sayth our Lord: Behold, I wil rayse vp thee euil out of thine owne house, and wil take thy wiues before thine eies, and geue them to thy neighbour, and he shal slepe with thy wiues in the sight of this Sunne.✦Itaque hæc dicit Dominus : Ecce ego suscitabo super te malum de domo tua, et tollam uxores tuas in oculis tuis, et dabo proximo tuo : et dormiet cum uxoribus tuis in oculis solis hujus.

15And Nathan returned into his house. Our Lord also percussit: caressed; struck, smote the child, which the wife of Urias had borne to David, and he was past hope.And Nathan returned into his house. For they said: Behold when the child yet lived, we spake to him, and he heard not our voice: how much more if we shall say: The child is dead, will he afflict himself?And it chanced the seuenth day that the infant died: and the seruantes of Dauid feared to tel him, that the child was dead. 19When David therefore saw his servants muttering, he understood that the infant was dead: and he said to his servants: Is the child dead? 24And David comforted Bethsabee his wife, and going in unto her, slept with her: Who bare a son, and he called his name Salomon, and our Lord loved him.And Dauid comforted Bethsabee his wife, and going in vnto her, slept with her: Who bare a sonne, and he called his name Salomon, and our Lord loued him.✦Et consolatus est David Bethsabee uxorem suam, ingressusque ad eam dormivit cum ea : quæ genuit filium, et vocavit nomen ejus Salomon : et Dominus dilexit eum.

30And he took the crown of their king from his head, in weight a talent of gold, having most precious stones, and it was put upon David's head.
