20David therefore came into Baal Pharasim: and percussit: caressed; struck, smote them there, and said: Our Lord hath divided mine enemies before me, as waters are divided, therefore the name of the place was called Baal Pharasim.Dauid therefore came into Baal Pharasim: and stroke them there, and said: Our Lord hath diuided mine enemies before me, as waters are diuided, therefore the name of the place was called Baal Pharasim.✦Venit ergo David in Baal Pharasim : et percussit eos ibi, et dixit : Divisit Dominus inimicos meos coram me, sicut dividuntur aquæ. 23And David consulted our Lord: Shall I go up against the Philistines, and wilt thou deliver them into my hands? Who answered: Go not up against them, but fetch a gyra: make a circuit, go round about behind their back, and thou shalt come to them over against the pear trees.And Dauid consulted our Lord: Shal I goe vp against the Philistiims, and wilt thou deliuer them into my handes? Who answered: Goe not vp against them, but fetch a compasse behind their backe, and thou shalt come to them ouer against the peare trees.✦Consuluit autem David Dominum : Si ascendam contra Philisthæos, et tradas eos in manus meas ? Qui respondit : Non ascendas contra eos, sed gyra post tergum eorum, et venies ad eos ex adverso pyrorum.
24And when thou shalt hear the sound of one going in the top of the pear trees, then shalt thou enter battle: because then will our Lord go forth before thy face, to strike the camp of the Philistines.And when thou shalt heare the sound of one going in the toppe of the peare-trees, then shalt thou enter battel: because then wil our Lord goe forth before thy face, to strike the campe of the Philistiims.✦Et cum audieris sonitum gradientis in cacumine pyrorum, tunc inibis prælium : quia tunc egredietur Dominus ante faciem tuam, ut percutiat castra Philisthiim.
25David therefore did as our Lord had commanded him, and he stroke the Philistines from Gabaa, until thou come to Gezer.Dauid therefore did as our Lord had commanded him, and he stroke the Philistiims from Gabaa, vntil thou come to Gezer.✦Fecit itaque David sicut præceperat ei Dominus, et percussit Philisthiim de Gabaa usque dum venias Gezer.
