Josaphat therefore was rich and very glorious, and was joined in affinitate: a natural liking or attraction; kinship by marriage, alliance by marriage to Achab.IOSAPHAT therfore was rich and verie glorious, and was ioyned in affinitie to Achab.✦Fuit ergo Josaphat dives et inclytus multum, et affinitate conjunctus est Achab.
2And he went down to him after certain years into Samaria: at whose coming Achab killed arietes: cuts of cooked sheep meat; sheep, live rams, and oxen very many for him and the people that came with him: and he persuaded him to go up into Ramoth Galaad.And he went downe to him after certaine yeares into Samaria: at whose coming Achab killed muttons, and oxen very manie for him and the people that came with him: and he perswaded him to goe vp into Ramoth Galaad.Descenditque post annos ad eum in Samariam : ad cujus adventum mactavit Achab arietes et boves plurimos, ipsi, et populo qui venerat cum eo : persuasitque illi ut ascenderet in Ramoth Galaad.
3And Achab the king of Israel said to Josaphat the king of Juda: Come with me into Ramoth Galaad. 5Therefore the king of Israel gathered together of the prophets four hundred men, and said to them: Shall we go into Ramoth Galaad to fight, or sit still? 7And the king of Israel said to Josaphat: There is one man, of whom we may ask the will of our Lord: but I hate him, because he doth not prophesy me good, but evil at all times: and it is Micheas the son of Jemla. 17And the king of Israel said to Josaphat: did I not tell thee that this man did not prophesy me any good, but these things that be evil?And the king of Israel sayd to Iosaphat: did I not tel thee that this man did not prophecie me anie good, but these thinges that be euil?Et ait rex Israël ad Josaphat : Nonne dixi tibi quod non prophetaret iste mihi quidquam boni, sed ea quæ mala sunt ?

20there came forth a spirit, and stood before our Lord, and said: I will deceive him. To whom our Lord said: wherein wilt thou deceive him.there came forth a spirit, and stood before our Lord, and sayd: I wil deceiue him. 27And Micheas said: If thou return in peace, our Lord hath not spoken in me, & he said: Hear all ye peoples.And Micheas sayd: If thou returne in peace, our Lord hath not spoken in me, & he sayd: Heare al ye peoples.✦Dixitque Michæas : Si reversus fueris in pace, non est locutus Dominus in me. Et ait : Audite, omnes populi.
28Therefore the king of Israel, and Josaphat the king of Juda went up into Ramoth Galaad.Therfore the king of Israel, and Iosaphat the king of Iuda went vp into Ramoth Galaad.Igitur ascenderunt rex Israël et Josaphat rex Juda in Ramoth Galaad.
29And the king of Israel said to Josaphat: I will change my habitum: a settled custom; dress, attire, clothing, and so I will go to the fight, but be thou clothed with thine own garments. And the king of Israel changing his habit came to the battle.And the king of Israel sayd to Iosaphat: I wil change my habite, and so I wil goe to the fight, but be thou clothed with thine owne garmentes. 31Therefore when the princes of the horsemen saw Josaphat, they said: This is the king of Israel. And they compassed him fighting: but he cried to our Lord, and he auxiliatus est: helped him, and turned them away from him.Therfore when the princes of the horsemen saw Iosaphat, they sayd: This is the king of Israel. And they compassed him fighting: but he cried to our Lord, and he holpe him, and turned them away from him.Itaque cum vidissent principes equitatus Josaphat, dixerunt : Rex Israël est iste. 32For when the captains of the horsemen saw, that it was not the king of Israel, they left him.For when the captaynes of the horsemen saw, that is was not the king of Israel, they leaft him.Cum enim vidissent duces equitatus quod non esset rex Israël, reliquerunt eum.
33And it chanced that one of the people shot an arrow at in incertum: an exciting exploit; at random, by hazard, and stroke the king of Israel between the neck and the shoulders, and he said to his aurigæ: charioteer, the driver of his chariot: Turn thy hand, and carry me out of the battle, because I am wounded.And it chanced that one of the people shot an arrow at aduenture, and stroke the king of Israel betwen the necke and the shoulders, and he sayd to his cocher: Turne thy hand, and carie me out of the battel, because I am wounded.Accidit autem ut unus e populo sagittam in incertum jaceret, et percuteret regem Israël inter cervicem et scapulas.
