9Thou shalt therefore give to thy servant a docile: teachable, apt to be instructed heart, that he may judge the people, and discern between good and evil. For who shall be able to judge this people, this thy people great in number?Thou shalt therfore geue to thy seruant a docible hart, that he may iudge the people, & discerne betwen good and euil. For who shal be able to iudge this people, this thy people great in number?✦Dabis ergo servo tuo cor docile, ut populum tuum judicare possit, et discernere inter bonum et malum. 20And rising in the dead time of the night, she took my child from the side of me thy handmaid being asleep, and laid it in her bosom: and her child that was dead, she put in my bosom.And rysing in the dead tyme of the night, she tooke my childe from the side of me thy handmayd being asleepe, and layed it in her bosome: and her childe that was dead, she put in my bosome.Et consurgens intempestæ noctis silentio, tulit filium meum de latere meo, ancillæ tuæ dormientis, et collocavit in sinu suo : suum autem filium, qui erat mortuus, posuit in sinu meo.

26But the woman, whose child was alive, said to the king (for her bowels were moved upon her child) I beseech thee my lord, give her the child alive, and kill it not. On the contrary part she said: be it neither mine, nor thine, but let it be divided.But the woman, whose childe was aliue, said to the king (for her bowels were moued vpon her childe) I beseech thee my lord, geue her the childe aliue, and kil it not. 27The king answered, and said: Give unto this woman the infant alive, and let it not be killed: for this is the mother thereof.The king answered, and said: Geue vnto this woman the infant aliue, and let it not be killed: for this is the mother therof.✦Respondit rex, et ait : Date huic infantem vivum, et non occidatur : hæc est enim mater ejus.
