And it came to pass, whiles the lion spake these words toAND it came to passe, whiles the lyon spake these wordes toEt factum est, dum loqueretur leo verba hæc ad aquilam : et vidi,
2the eagle: I saw, and behold the head that had overcome, and those four wings appeared not which passed to him, and were set up to reign: and their reign was small, and full of tumult.the eagle: I saw, and behold the head that had ouercome, and those foure winges appeared not which passed to him, and were set vp to reigne: and their reigne was smal, and ful of tumult.et ecce quod superaverat caput, et non comparuerunt quattuor alæ illæ, quæ ad eum transierunt, et erectæ sunt ut regnarent : et erat regnum eorum exile, et tumultu plenum.
3And I saw, and behold they appeared not, and all the body of the eagle was burnt, and the earth was afraid exceedingly, and I by the tumult and trance of mind, and for great fearAnd I saw, and behold they appeared not, and al the bodie of the eagle was burnt, & the earth was afrayd excedinly, and I by the tumult and traunce of minde, and for great feareEt vidi, et ecce ipsa non apparebant, et omne corpus aquilæ incendebatur, et expavescebat terra valde, et ego a tumultu et excessu mentis, et a magno timore vigilavi, et dixi spiritui meo,
4awaked, and said to my spirit: Behold thou hast given me this, in that, that thou searchest the ways of the Highest.awaked, and sayd to my spirit: Behold thou hast geuen me this, in that, that thou searchest the wayes of the Highest.Ecce tu præstitisti mihi hoc in eo, quòd scrutaris vias Altissimi.
5Behold yet I am weary in mind, and in my spirit I am very feeble, and there is not so much as a little strength in me for the great fear, that I was afraid of this night.Behold yet I am wearie in minde, and in my spirit I am very feeble, and there is not so much as a litle strength in me for the great feare, that I was afrayd of this night.Ecce adhuc fatigatus sum animo, et spiritu meo invalidus sum valde, et nec modica est in me virtus a multo timore, quam expavi nocte hac.
6Now therefore I will pray the Highest, that he strengthen me even to the end.Now therfore I wil pray the Highest, that he strengthen me euen to the end.Nunc ergo orabo Altissimum, ut me confortet usque in finem.
7And I said: Lord Dominator: sovereign Lord, Ruler, if I have found grace before thine eyes, and if I am justified before thee above many, and if indeed my prayer be ascended before thy face,And I sayd: Lord Dominatour, if I haue found grace before thine eyes, and if I am iustified before thee aboue manie, and if in deede my prayer be ascended before thy face,Et dixi, Dominator Domine, si inveni gratiam ante oculos tuos, et si justificatus sum apud te præ multis, et si certe ascendit deprecatio mea ante faciem tuam,
8strengthen me, and shew unto me thy servant the interpretation, and distinctionem: a mark of honour, a difference; distinct setting-forth, explanation of this horrible vision, that thou mayst comfort my soul most fully.strengthen me, and shew vnto me thy seruant the interpretation, and distinction of this horrible vision, that thou mayst comfort my soule most fully.conforta me, et ostende servo tuo mihi interpretationem et distinctionem visus horribilis hujus, ut plenissime consoleris animam meam.
9For thou hast counted me worthy to shew unto me the later times. And he said to me:For thou hast counted me worthie to shew vnto me the later times. And he sayd to me:Dignum enim me habuisti ostendere mihi temporum novissima. Et dixit ad me,

12But it was not interpreted to him, therefore I do now interpret it to thee.But it was not interpreted to him, therfore I do now interprete it to thee.Sed non est illi interpretatum quoniam ego nunc tibi interpretor.
13Behold the days come, and there shall rise a kingdom upon the earth, and the fear shall be more terrible than of all the kingdoms that were before it.Behold the dayes come, and there shal rise a kingdom vpon the earth, and the feare shal be more terrible then of al the kingdomes that were before it.Ecce dies veniunt, et exurget regnum super terram, et erit timor acrior omnium regnorum quæ fuerunt ante eum.
14And there shall twelve kings reign in it, one after another.And there shal twelue kinges reigne it it, one after an other.Regnabunt autem in ea reges duodecim, unus post unum.
15For the second shall begin to reign, and he shall continue more time than the rest of the twelve.For the second shal beginne to reigne, and he shal continew more time then the rest of the twelue.Nam secundus incipiet regnare, et ipse tenebit amplius tempus præ duodecim.

17And the voice that spake which thou heardst not coming forth of her heads, but from the midst of her body,And the voice that spake which thou heardst not coming forth of her heads, but from the middes of her bodie,Et quam audisti vocem quæ locuta est, non de capitibus ejus exeuntem, sed de medio corporis ejus,
18this is the interpretation, that after the time of that kingdom shall rise no small contentions, and it shall be in danger to fall: and it shall not fall then, but shall be constituted again according to the beginning thereof.this is the interpretation, that after the time of that kingdom shal rise no smal contentions, and it shal be in danger to fal: and it shal not fal then, but shal be constituted againe according to the beginning therof.hæc est interpretatio, quoniam post tempus regni illius nascentur contentiones non modicæ, et periclitabitur ut cadat : et non cadet tunc, sed iterum constituetur in suum initium.
19And whereas thou sawest eight underwings cleaving to the wings thereof,And wheras thou sawest eight vnderwings cleauing to the wings therof,Et quoniam vidisti subalares octo cohærentes alis ejus,

21But when the midmost time approacheth, four shall be kept till a time, when the time thereof shall begin to approach to be ended, yet two shall be kept to the end.But when the middest time approcheth, foure shal be kept til a time, when the time therof shal beginne to approch to be ended, yet two shal be kept to the end.Appropinquante autem tempore medio quattuor servabuntur in tempore, cum incipiet appropinquare tempus ejus ut finiatur : duo vero in finem servabuntur.
22And whereas thou sawest three heads resting,And wheras thou sawest three heads resting,Et quoniam vidisti tria capita quiescentia,
23this is the interpretation: in her last days the Highest will raise up three kingdoms, and will call back many things into them, and they shall rule over the earth,this is the interpretation: in her last dayes the Highest wil rayse vp three kingdoms, and wil cal backe manie thinges into them, and they shal rule ouer the earth,hæc est interpretatio : in novissimis ejus suscitabit Altissimus tria regna, et revocabit in ea multa, et dominabuntur terram,
24and them that dwell in it, with much labour above all them that were before them. For this cause they are called the heads of the eagle.and them that dwel in it, with much labour aboue al them that were before them. 29And whereas thou sawest two underwings passing over the head that is on the right side,And wheras thou sawest two vnderwings passing ouer the head that is on the right side,Et quoniam vidisti duas subalares trajicientes super caput quod est in dextera parte,
30this is the interpretation: these are they whom the Highest hath kept to their end, this is a small kingdom, and full of trouble.this is the interpretation: these are they whom the Highest hath kept to their end, this is a smal kingdom, and ful of truble.hæc est interpretatio. Hi sunt quos conservavit Altissimus in finem suum, hoc est regnum exile, et turbationis plenum.

35This is the dream which thou sawest,This is the dreame which thou sawest,Hoc somnium quod vidisti, et hæ interpretationes.
36and these be the interpretations. Thou therefore only hast been worthy to know this secret of the Highest.and these be the interpretations. Thou therfore only hast bene worthie to know this secrete of the Highest.Tu ergo solus dignus fuisti scire Altissimi secretum hoc.
37Write therefore in a book all these things which thou hast seen, and put them in a hidden place:Write therfore in a booke al these thinges which thou hast sene, and put them in a hidden place:Scribe ergo omnia ista in libro quæ vidisti, et pone ea in loco abscondito :
38and thou shalt teach them the wise men of thy people, whose hearts thou knowest able to take, and to keep these secrets.and thou shalt teach them the wise men of thy people, whose harts thou knowest able to take, and to kepe these secretes.et docebis ea sapientes de populo tuo, quorum corda scis posse capere, et servare secreta hæc.

40And he departed from me. And it came to pass, when all the people had heard that the seven days were past, and I had not returned into the city, and all gathered themselves together from the least unto the greatest: and came to me, andAnd he departed from me. 41spake to me saying: What have we sinned to thee, or what have we done unjustly against thee, that leaving us thou hast sitten in this place?spake to me saying: What haue we sinned to thee, or what haue we done vniustly against thee, that leauing vs thou hast sitten in this place?Quid peccavimus tibi, et quid iniuste egimus in te, quoniam derelinquens nos sedisti in loco hoc ?

43Or are not the evils that chance, sufficient for us?Or are not the euiles that chance, sufficient for vs?Aut non sufficiunt nobis mala quæ contingunt ?
44If then thou shalt forsake us, how much better had it been to us, if we also had been burnt with the burning of Sion?If then thou shalt forsake vs, how much better had it ben to vs, if we also had bene burnt with the burning of Sion?Si ergo tu nos dereliqueris, quanto nobis erat melius si essemus succensi et nos cum incendio Sion ?
45For we are not better than they that died there. And they wept with a loud voice.For we are not better then they that dyed there. And they wept with a lowd voice.Nec enim nos sumus meliores eorum qui ibi mortui sunt. Et ploraverunt voce magna. Et respondi ad eos, et dixi :
46And I answered them, and said: Be of good cheer Israel, and be not sorrowful thou house of Jacob.And I answered them, and sayd: Be of good chere Israel, and be not sorowful thou house of Iacob.Confide Israël, et noli tristari tu domus Jacob.
47For there is remembrance of you before the Highest, and the Strong hath not forgotten you in tentatione: enticement to sin; trial, testing.For there is remēbrance of you before the Highest, and the Strong hath not forgotten you in tentation.Est enim memoria vestri coram Altissimo, et Fortis non est oblitus vestri in tentatione.
