Woe to the pastores: clergymen; shepherds, the rulers set over the flock, that destroy and tear the flock of my pasture, saith our Lord.WOe to the pastors, that destroy and teare the flocke of my pasture, saith our Lord.Væ pastoribus qui disperdunt et dilacerant gregem pascuæ meæ ! dicit Dominus.
2Therefore thus saith our Lord the God of Israel to the pastors, that feed my people: You have scattered my flock, and cast them out, and have not visito: paid a friendly call on; attended to, and here to punish, to call to account them: Behold I will visit upon you the malice of your studiorum: book-learning; pursuits, zealous doings, endeavours, saith our Lord.Therefore thus saith our Lord the God of Israel to the pastours, that feede my people: You haue scattered my flocke, and cast them out, and haue not visited them: Behold I wil visite vpon you the malice of your studies, saith our Lord.✦Ideo hæc dicit Dominus Deus Israël ad pastores qui pascunt populum meum : Vos dispersistis gregem meum, et ejecistis eos, et non visitastis eos : ecce ego visitabo super vos malitiam studiorum vestrorum, ait Dominus.
