Thus saith our Lord: Stand in the court of the house of our Lord, and thou shalt speak to all the cities of Juda, out of the which they come, to adorent: to worship, to do religious homage NOT merely be fond of in the house of our Lord, all the words which I have commanded thee to speak unto them: withdraw not a word,Thus saith our Lord: Stand in the court of the house of our Lord, and thou shalt speake to al the * cities of Iuda, out of the which they come, to adore in the house of our Lord, al the wordes which I haue commanded thee to speake vnto them: withdraw not a word,✦Hæc dicit Dominus : Sta in atrio domus Domini, et loqueris ad omnes civitates Juda, de quibus veniunt ut adorent in domo Domini universos sermones quos ego mandavi tibi ut loquaris ad eos : noli subtrahere verbum,
if perhaps they will hear and be convertantur: turned back, turned from their way NOT a change of religion every one from his evil way: and it may repent me of the evil that I think to do to them for the malice of their studiorum: pursuits, zealous doings NOT book-learning.if perhaps they wil heare and be conuerted euerie one from his euil way: and it may repent me of the euil that I thinke to doe to them for the malice of their studies.✦si forte audiant, et convertantur unusquisque a via sua mala, et pœniteat me mali quod cogito facere eis propter malitiam studiorum eorum.
And thou shalt say to them: Thus saith our Lord: If you will not hear me to walk in my law, which I have given you,And thou shalt say to them: Thus saith our Lord: If you wil not heare me to walke in my law, which I haue geuen you,Et dices ad eos : Hæc dicit Dominus : Si non audieritis me, ut ambuletis in lege mea quam dedi vobis,
that you hear the words of my servants the prophets, which I sent to you in the night de nocte consurgens: rising early, betimes, and directing, and you heard not:that you heare the wordes of my seruants the prophetes, which I sent to you in the night rising, and directing, and you heard not:✦ut audiatis sermones servorum meorum prophetarum quos ego misi ad vos, de nocte consurgens, et dirigens, et non audistis :
I will give this house as Silo, and this city I will give into maledictionem: a curse to all the nations of the earth.I wil geue this house as Silo, and this citie I wil geue into malediction to al the nations of the earth.✦dabo domum istam sicut Silo, et urbem hanc dabo in maledictionem cunctis gentibus terræ.
And the priests, and prophets, and all the people heard Jeremie speaking these words in the house of our Lord. And the priestes, and prophetes, and al the people heard Ieremie speaking these wordes in the house of our Lord.Et audierunt sacerdotes, et prophetæ, et omnis populus, Jeremiam loquentem verba hæc in domo Domini.
And when Jeremie had ended speaking all things that our Lord had commanded him, to speak unto all the people: the priests, and prophets, and all the people apprehended him, saying: Let him die the death. And when Ieremie had ended speaking al thinges that our Lord had commanded him, to speake vnto al the people: the priestes, and prophetes, and al the people apprehended him, saying: Let him dye the death.✦Cumque complesset Jeremias, loquens omnia quæ præceperat ei Dominus ut loqueretur ad universum populum, apprehenderunt eum sacerdotes, et prophetæ, et omnis populus, dicens : Morte moriatur.
Why hath he prophesied in the name of our Lord, saying: This house shall be as Silo: and this city shall be made desolate, for that there is no inhabitant? And all the people was gathered together against Jeremie in the house of our Lord. Why hath he prophecied in the name of our Lord, saying: This house shal be as Silo: and this citie shal be made desolate, for that there is no inhabitant? And al the people was gathered together against Ieremie in the house of our Lord.✦Quare prophetavit in nomine Domini, dicens : Sicut Silo erit domus hæc, et urbs ista desolabitur eo quod non sit habitator ? Et congregatus est omnis populus adversus Jeremiam in domo Domini.
And the princes of Juda heard these words: and they went up from the king's house into the house of our Lord, and sate in the entry of the new gate of the house of our Lord. And the princes of Iuda heard these wordes: and they went vp from the kings house into the house of our Lord, and sate in the entrie of the new gate of the house of our Lord.✦Et audierunt principes Juda verba hæc, et ascenderunt de domo regis in domum Domini, et sederunt in introitu portæ domus Domini novæ.
And the priests and the prophets spake to the princes, and to all the people, saying: The judgement of death is to this man: because he hath prophesied against this city, as you have heard with your ears. And the priestes and the prophetes spake to the princes, and to al the people, saying: The iudgement of death is to this man: because he hath prophecied against this citie, as you haue heard with your eares.✦Et locuti sunt sacerdotes et prophetæ ad principes, et ad omnem populum, dicentes : Judicium mortis est viro huic, quia prophetavit adversus civitatem istam, sicut audistis auribus vestris.
And Jeremie spake to all the princes, and to all the people, saying: Our Lord sent me, that I should prophesy to this house, and to this city all the words that you have heard. And Ieremie spake to al the princes, and to al the people, saying: Our Lord sent me, that I should prophecie to this house, & to this citie al the wordes that you haue heard.✦Et ait Jeremias ad omnes principes, et ad universum populum, dicens : Dominus misit me ut prophetarem ad domum istam, et ad civitatem hanc, omnia verba quæ audistis.
Now therefore make your ways good, and your studies, and hear the voice of our Lord your God: and our Lord will repent him of the evil, that he hath spoken against you.Now therfore make your waies good, and your studies, & heare the voice of our Lord your God: and our Lord wil repent him of the euil, that he hath spoken against you.Nunc ergo bonas facite vias vestras et studia vestra, et audite vocem Domini Dei vestri, et pœnitebit Dominum mali quod locutus est adversum vos.
But I lo am in your hands: do unto me that which is good, and right in your eyes:But I loe am in your handes: doe vnto me that which is good, and right in your eyes:✦Ego autem ecce in manibus vestris sum : facite mihi quod bonum et rectum est in oculis vestris.
Howbeit know ye and understand that if you kill me, you shall betray innocent blood against yourselves, and against this city, and the inhabitants thereof. For in truth our Lord sent me to you, that I should speak all these words in your ears.Howbeit know ye and vnderstand that if you kil me, you shal betray innocent bloud against your selues, and against this citie, and the inhabitantes therof. For in truth our Lord sent me to you, that I should speake al these wordes in your eares.✦Verumtamen scitote et cognoscite quod, si occideritis me, sanguinem innocentem tradetis contra vosmetipsos, et contra civitatem istam, et habitatores ejus : in veritate enim misit me Dominus ad vos, ut loquerer in auribus vestris omnia verba hæc.
And the princes, and all the people said to the priests, and to the prophets: There is no judgement of death to this man: because he hath spoken to us in the name of the Lord our God.And the princes, and al the people said to the priestes, and to the prophetes: There is no iudgement of death to this man: because he hath spoken to vs in the name of the Lord our God.✦Et dixerunt principes et omnis populus ad sacerdotes et ad prophetas : Non est viro huic judicium mortis, quia in nomine Domini Dei nostri locutus est ad nos.
Men therefore of the ancients of the land rose up: and they spake to all the assembly of the people, saying:Men therefore of the ancients of the land rose vp: and they spake to al the assemblie of the people, saying:Surrexerunt ergo viri de senioribus terræ, et dixerunt ad omnem cœtum populi, loquentes :
Micheas the Morasthi was a prophet in the days of Ezechias the king of Juda, and he spake to all the people Juda, saying: Thus saith the Lord of hosts: Sion shall be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall be as an heap of stones: and the mount of the house as the high places of woods.Michæas the Morasthi was a prophet in the daies of Ezechias the king of Iuda, and he spake to al the people Iuda, saying: Thus saith the Lord of hostes: Sion shal be plowed as a field, and Ierusalem shal be as an heape of stones: and the mount of the house as the high places of woodes.✦Michæas de Morasthi fuit propheta in diebus Ezechiæ regis Juda, et ait ad omnem populum Juda, dicens : Hæc dicit Dominus exercituum : Sion quasi ager arabitur, et Jerusalem in acervum lapidum erit, et mons domus in excelsa silvarum.
Did Ezechias the king of Juda, and all Juda, condemn him to death? Did they not fear our Lord, and beseech the face of our Lord: and it repented our Lord of the evil, that he had spoken against them? Therefore we do great evil against ourselves.Did Ezechias the king of Iuda, and al Iuda, condemne him to death? Did they not feare our Lord, and beseech the face of our Lord: and it repented our Lord of the euil, that he had spoken against them? Therefore we doe great euil against our selues.
There was also a man prophesying in the name of our Lord, Urias the son of Semei of Cariathiarim: and he prophesied against this city, and against this land according to all the words of Jeremie. There was also a man prophecying in the name of our Lord, Vrias the sonne of Semei of Cariathiarim: and he prophecied against this citie, and against this land according to al the wordes of Ieremie.✦Fuit quoque vir prophetans in nomine Domini, Urias filius Semei de Cariathiarim, et prophetavit adversus civitatem istam, et adversus terram hanc, juxta omnia verba Jeremiæ.
And king Joakim, and all his potentes: mighty men, nobles, and his princes heard these words: and the king sought to kill him. And Urias heard, and was afraid, and fled and went into Egypt. And king Ioakim, and al his mighties, and his princes heard these wordes: & the king sought to kil him. And Vrias heard, and was afraied, and fled and went into Ægypt.✦Et audivit rex Joakim, et omnes potentes et principes ejus, verba hæc, et quæsivit rex interficere eum : et audivit Urias, et timuit, fugitque, et ingressus est Ægyptum.
And king Joakim sent men into Egypt, Elnathan the son of Achobor, and men with him into Egypt. And king Ioakim sent men into Ægypt, Elnathan the sonne of Achobor, and men with him into Ægypt.✦Et misit rex Joakim viros in Ægyptum, Elnathan filium Achobor, et viros cum eo, in Ægyptum,
And they brought Urias out of Egypt: and brought him to king Joakim, and he stroke him with the sword: and he cast forth his cadaver: a dead body, a corpse in the sepulchers of the base vulgi ignobilis: common, of the populace NOT coarse or rude people. And they brought Vrias out of Ægypt: and brought him to king Ioakim, and he stroke him with the sword: and he cast forth his carcasse in the sepulchers of the base vulgar people.✦et eduxerunt Uriam de Ægypto, et adduxerunt eum ad regem Joakim, et percussit eum gladio, et projecit cadaver ejus in sepulchris vulgi ignobilis.
Therefore the hand of Ahicam the son of Saphan was with Jeremie, that he should not be delivered into the hands of the people, and they kill him. Therefore the hand of Ahicam the sonne of Saphan was with Ieremie, that he should not be deliuered into the handes of the people, and they kil him.✦Igitur manus Ahicam filii Saphan fuit cum Jeremia, ut non traderetur in manus populi, et interficerent eum.
