But Job answering, said:BVt Iob answering, sayd:Respondens autem Job, ait :
2Now also my talk is in bitterness, and the hand of my plague is aggravated upon my mourning.Now also my talke is in bitternesse, and the hand of my plague is aggrauated vpon my mourning.Nunc quoque in amaritudine est sermo meus, et manus plagæ meæ aggravata est super gemitum meum.
3Who will grant me that I may know and find him, and come even to his throne?Who wil grant me that I may know and find him and come euen to his throne?Quis mihi tribuat ut cognoscam et inveniam illum, et veniam usque ad solium ejus ?
4I will set judgment before him, and will fill my mouth with accusations.I wil set iudgement before him, and wil fil my mouth with accusations.✦Ponam coram eo judicium, et os meum replebo increpationibus :
5That I may know the words that he will answer me, and understand what he will speak to me.That I may know the wordes, that he wil answer me, and vnderstand what he wil speake to me.✦ut sciam verba quæ mihi respondeat, et intelligam quid loquatur mihi.
6I will not that he contend with me with much strength, nor that he oppress me with the weight of his greatness.I wil not that he contend with me with much strength, nor that he oppresse me with the weight of his greatnes.✦Nolo multa fortitudine contendat mecum, nec magnitudinis suæ mole me premat.
7Let him propose æquitatem: a financial or legal stake; uprightness, righteousness of cause against me, and my judgment shall come to victory.Let him propose equitie against me, and my iudgement shal come to victorie.✦Proponat æquitatem contra me, et perveniat ad victoriam judicium meum.
8If I shall go to the East, he appeareth not: if to the West, I shall not understand him.If I shal goe to the East, he appeareth not: if to the West, I shal not vnderstand him.✦Si ad orientem iero, non apparet ; si ad occidentem, non intelligam eum.
9If to the left hand, what shall I do? I shall not apprehend him: if I turn myself to the right hand, I shall not see him.If to the left hand, what shal I doe? I shal not apprehend him: if I turne my self to the right hand, I shal not see him.Si ad sinistram, quid agam ? non apprehendam eum ; si me vertam ad dexteram, non videbo illum.
10But he knoweth my way, and hath proved me as gold that passeth through the fire:But he knoweth my way, & hath proued me as gold that passeth through the fyre:Ipse vero scit viam meam, et probavit me quasi aurum quod per ignem transit.
11My foot hath followed his steps, I have kept his way, and have not declined out of it.My foote hath folowed his steppes, I haue kept his way, & haue not declined out if it.✦Vestigia ejus secutus est pes meus : viam ejus custodivi, et non declinavi ex ea.
12From the commandments of his lips I have not departed, and I have hid the words of his mouth in my bosom.From the commandementes of his lippes I haue not departed, and I haue hid the wordes of his mouth in my bosome.✦A mandatis labiorum ejus non recessi, et in sinu meo abscondi verba oris ejus.
13For he is alone, and no man can turn away his cogitationem: thought, purpose of mind: and whatsoever his soul would, that hath he done.For he is alone, and no man can turne away his cogitation: and whatsoeuer his soule would, that hath he done.✦Ipse enim solus est, et nemo avertere potest cogitationem ejus : et anima ejus quodcumque voluit, hoc fecit.
14And when he shall have fulfilled his will in me, many other things also are at hand with him.And when he shal haue fulfilled his wil in me, manie other things also are at hand wit him.✦Cum expleverit in me voluntatem suam, et alia multa similia præsto sunt ei.
15And therefore I am troubled at his face, and considering him I am made sollicitor: quietly thoughtful, wistful; troubled, anxious, heavy of heart with fear.And therfore I am trubled at his face, and considering, him I am made pensife withfeare.✦Et idcirco a facie ejus turbatus sum, et considerans eum, timore sollicitor.
16God hath mollivit: softened, made faint my heart, and the Omnipotent hath troubled me.God hath mollified my hart, and the Omnipotent hath trubled me.✦Deus mollivit cor meum, et Omnipotens conturbavit me.
17For I have not perished because of the imminent darkness, neither hath the mist covered my face.For I haue not perished because of the imminent darkenesse, neither hath the mist couered my face.✦Non enim perii propter imminentes tenebras, nec faciem meam operuit caligo.
