Say ye to your brethren: My people: and to your sister, She that hath obtained mercy.SAY a ye to your bretheren: My people: & to your sister, She that hath obteyned mercie.✦Dicite fratribus vestris : Populus meus ; et sorori vestræ : Misericordiam consecuta.
2Judge your mother, judge ye: because she not my wife, and I not her husband. 6For this behold I will hedge thy way with thorns, and I will hedge it with a wall, and she shall not find her paths.For this behold I wil hedge thy way with thornes, and I wil hedge it with a wal, and she shal not finde her pathes.✦Propter hoc ecce ego sepiam viam tuam spinis, et sepiam eam maceria, et semitas suas non inveniet.
7And she shall follow her lovers, and shall not overtake them: and she shall seek them, and shall not find, and she shall say: I will go, and will return to my former husband: because it was well with me then, more than now.And she shal folow her louers, & shal not ouertake them: and she shal seeke them, and shal not find, and she shal say: I wil goe, and wil returne to my former husband: because it was wel with me then, more then now.✦Et sequetur amatores suos, et non apprehendet eos ; et quæret eos, et non inveniet : et dicet : Vadam, et revertar ad virum meum priorem, quia bene mihi erat tunc magis quam nunc.
8And she did not know that I gave her corn, and wine, and oil, and multiplied silver unto her, and gold, which they have made to Baal.And she did not know that I gaue her corne, and wine, and oile, and multiplied siluer vnto her, & gold, which they haue made to Baal.✦Et hæc nescivit, quia ego dedi ei frumentum, et vinum, et oleum, et argentum multiplicavi ei, et aurum, quæ fecerunt Baal.
9Therefore will I return, and will take my corn in his time, and my wine in his time, and I will deliver my wool, and my flax, which covered her ignominy.Therfore wil I returne, and wil take my corne in his time, and my wine in his time, and I wil deliuer my wool, and my flaxe, which couered her ignominie.✦Idcirco convertar, et sumam frumentum meum in tempore suo, et vinum meum in tempore suo. Et liberabo lanam meam et linum meum, quæ operiebant ignominiam ejus.
10And now I will reveal her folly in the eyes of her lovers: and there shall not a man deliver her out of my hand:And now I wil reuele her follie in the eyes of her louers: and there shal not a man deliuer her out of my hand:✦Et nunc revelabo stultitiam ejus in oculis amatorum ejus ; et vir non eruet eam de manu mea ;
11and I will make all her joy to cease, her solemnitatem: a religious festival, feast-day, not gravity of manner, her new moon, her sabbath, and all her festival times.and I wil make al her ioy to cease, her solemnitie, her newmoone, her sabbath, & al her festiual times.✦et cessare faciam omne gaudium ejus, solemnitatem ejus, neomeniam ejus, sabbatum ejus, et omnia festa tempora ejus.
12And I will destroy her vine, and her fig tree: of which she said: These are my rewards, which my lovers have given me: and I will lay her as a forest, and the beast of the field shall eat her.And I wil destroy her vine, & her figtree: of which she said: These are my rewardes, which my louers haue geuen me: and I wil lay her as a forrest, & the beast of the filde shal eate her.✦Et corrumpam vineam ejus, et ficum ejus, de quibus dixit : Mercedes hæ meæ sunt, quas dederunt mihi amatores mei ; et ponam eam in saltum, et comedet eam bestia agri.
13And I will visitabo: pay a social call on; come upon to punish, avenge upon her the days of Baalim, to whom she burnt incense, and was adorned with her inaure: an ear-ring, and with her monili: a jewelled necklace, not a writing tablet, and went after her lovers, and forgot me, saith our Lord.And I wil visite vpon her the dayes of Baalim, to whom she burnt incense, & was adorned with her earlet, and with her tablet, and went after her louers, & forgot me, sayth our Lord.✦Et visitabo super eam dies Baalim, quibus accendebat incensum, et ornabatur inaure sua, et monili suo. Et ibat post amatores suos, et mei obliviscebatur, dicit Dominus.
14For this, lo I will allure her, and will lead her into the wilderness: and I will speak to her heart.c For this, loe I wil allure her, & wil leade her into the wildernes: & I wil speake to her hart.✦Propter hoc ecce ego lactabo eam, et ducam eam in solitudinem, et loquar ad cor ejus.
15And I will give her dressers of vines out of the same place, and the vale of Achor to open hope: and she shall sing there according to the days of her youth, and according to the days of her ascending out of the Land of Egypt.And I wil geue her dressers of vines out of the same place, and the vale of Achor to open hope: and she shal sing there according to the dayes of her youth, and according to the dayes of her ascending out of the Land of Ægypt.✦Et dabo ei vinitores ejus ex eodem loco, et vallem Achor, ad aperiendam spem ; et canet ibi juxta dies juventutis suæ, et juxta dies ascensionis suæ de terra Ægypti.
16And it shall be in that day, saith our Lord: She shall call me: My husband, and she shall call me no more, Baalim.And it shal be in that day, saith our Lord: She shal cal me: My husband, and she shal cal me no more, Baalim.✦Et erit in die illa, ait Dominus : vocabit me, Vir meus, et non vocabit me ultra Baali.
17And I will take away the names of Baalim out of her mouth, and she shall no more remember their name.And I wil take away the names of Baalim out of her mouth, and she shal no more remember their name.Et auferam nomina Baalim de ore ejus, et non recordabitur ultra nominis eorum.
18And I will make with them a foedus: a covenant, a bond in that day, with the beast of the field, and with the fowl of the heaven, and with that, which creepeth on the earth: and bow, and sword, and battle I will destroy out of the earth: and I will make them sleep fiducialiter: securely, without fear.And I wil make with them a league in that day, with the beast of the filde, and with the foule of the heauen, and with that, which creepeth on the earth: and bow, and sword, and battel I wil destroy out of the earth: and I wil make them sleepe confidently.Et percutiam cum eis fœdus in die illa, cum bestia agri, et cum volucre cæli, et cum reptili terræ ; et arcum, et gladium, et bellum conteram de terra, et dormire eos faciam fiducialiter.
19And I will sponsabo: betroth, take in marriage thee to me for ever: and I will espouse thee to me in justice, and judgement, and in mercy, and in commiserations.And I wil despouse thee to me for euer: and I wil despouse thee to me in iustice, and iudgement, and in mercie, and in commiserations.✦Et sponsabo te mihi in sempiternum ; et sponsabo te mihi in justitia, et judicio, et in misericordia, et in miserationibus.
20And I will espouse thee to me in faith: and thou shalt know that I am the Lord.And I wil despouse thee to me in faith: and thou shalt know that I am the Lord.✦Et sponsabo te mihi in fide ; et scies quia ego Dominus.
21And it shall be in that day: I will hear, saith our Lord, I will hear the heavens, and they shall hear the earth.And it shal be in that day: I wil heare, sayth our Lord, I wil heare the heauens, and they shal heare the earth.✦Et erit in die illa : exaudiam, dicit Dominus, exaudiam cælos, et illi exaudient terram.
22And the earth shall hear wheat, and wine, and oil: and these shall hear Jezrahel.And the earth shal heare wheate, and wine, and oile: and these shal heare Iezrahel.Et terra exaudiet triticum, et vinum, et oleum, et hæc exaudient Jezrahel.
23And I will sow her unto me into the earth, and I will have mercy on her, that was Without mercy.And I wil sow her vnto me into the earth, and d I wil haue mercie on her, that was Without mercie.✦Et seminabo eam mihi in terra, et miserebor ejus quæ fuit Absque misericordia.
24And I will say to Not my people: My people art thou: and it shall say: Thou art my God.And I wil say to Not my people: My people art thou: and it shal say: Thou art my God.Et dicam Non populo meo : Populus meus es tu ; et ipse dicet : Deus meus es tu.
