The good doe prosper, 5. not the Wicked: 6. as wil appeare in the end of this world.✦
Blessed is the man that hath not gone in the consilium: a deliberative assembly (council); plan, company of the impious, and hath not stood in the way of sinners, and hath not sit in the cathedra: seat, office of teaching of pestilentia: moral corruption, the scorner's seat:BLESSED is the man, that hath not gone in the counsel of the impious, & hath not stoode in the way of sinners, and hath not sitte in the chayre of pestilence:¶Beatus vir qui non abiit in consilio impiorum, et in via peccatorum non stetit, et in cathedra pestilentiæ non sedit ;
2But his will is in the way of our Lord, and in his law he will meditate day and night.But his wil is in the way of our Lord, and in his law he wil meditate day and night.¶sed in lege Domini voluntas ejus, et in lege ejus meditabitur die ac nocte.
3And he shall be as a tree, that is planted nigh to the streams of waters, which shall give his fruit in his time:And he shal be as a tree, that is planted nigh to the streames of waters, which shal geue his fruite in his time:Et erit tamquam lignum quod plantatum est secus decursus aquarum, quod fructum suum dabit in tempore suo : et folium ejus non defluet ; et omnia quæcumque faciet prosperabuntur.
4And his leaf shall not fall: and all things whatsoever he shall do, shall prosper.And his leafe shal not fal: and al things whatsoeuer he shal doe, shal prosper.Et erit tamquam lignum quod plantatum est secus decursus aquarum, quod fructum suum dabit in tempore suo : et folium ejus non defluet ; et omnia quæcumque faciet prosperabuntur.
5The impious not so: but as dust, which the wind driveth from the face of the earth.The impious not so: but as dust, which the winde driueth from the face of the earth.Non sic impii, non sic ; sed tamquam pulvis quem projicit ventus a facie terræ.
6Therefore the impious shall not rise again in judgement: nor sinners in the counsel of the just.Therfore the impious shal not rise againe in iudgement: nor sinners in the councel of the iust.Ideo non resurgent impii in judicio, neque peccatores in concilio justorum :
7For our Lord knoweth the way of the just, and the way of the impious shall perish.For our Lord knoweth the way of the iust, and the way of the impious shal perish.quoniam novit Dominus viam justorum, et iter impiorum peribit.

1Hath not gone, not stood, not sit. The Hebrew style, and manner of discourse differeth here from other nations, in mentioning first the less evil, and the greatest last. Whereas we would say in the contrary order: He is happy that hath not sit, that is, hath not settled himself in wickedness, nor finally persisted obstinate: more happy, that hath not stood, any notable time continued in sin: and most happy, that hath not gone, not given any consent at all to evil suggestions.Hath not gone, not stood, not sitte. 2His will in the way of our Lord. As one part of happiness consisteth in declining from evil: so the other is in doing good; the will desiring, and diligently endeavouring to walk in the way of virtue, and law of God.
