The fervent desire of the just, 6. much afflicted in this life, 12. and assured hope of eternal joy.The feruent deſire of the iuſt, 6. much afflicted in this life, 12. and aſſured hope of eternal ioy.

Unto the end, understanding to the sons of Core.Vnto the end, vnderſtanding to the ſonnes of Core.In finem. Intellectus filiis Core.

Even as the cervus: the organ heart; a stag, male deer desireth after the fountains of waters: so doth my soul desire after thee O God.EVEN as the harte deſireth after the fountaines of waters: ſo doth my ſoule deſire after thee ô God.Quemadmodum desiderat cervus ad fontes aquarum, ita desiderat anima mea ad te, Deus.

My soul hath thirsted after God the strong living: when shall I come and appear before the face of God?My ſoule hath thirſted after God the ſtrong liuing: when ſhal I come and appeare before the face of God?Sitivit anima mea ad Deum fortem, vivum ; quando veniam, et apparebo ante faciem Dei ?

My tears have been breads unto me day and night: whiles it is said to me daily: Where is thy God?My teares haue beene breades vnto me day and night: whiles it is ſaid to me dayly: Where is thy God?Fuerunt mihi lacrimæ meæ panes die ac nocte, dum dicitur mihi quotidie : Ubi est Deus tuus ?

These things have I remembered, and have poured out my soul in me, because I shall pass into the place of a marvellous tabernacle, even to the house of God. In the voice of exultation, and confession: the sound of one feasting.Theſe thinges haue I remembred, and haue powred out my ſoule in me, becauſe I ſhal paſſe into the place of a meruelous tabernacle, euen to the houſe of God. In the voyce of exultation, and confeſſion: the ſound of one feaſting.Hæc recordatus sum, et effudi in me animam meam, quoniam transibo in locum tabernaculi admirabilis, usque ad domum Dei, in voce exsultationis et confessionis, sonus epulantis.

Why art thou sorrowful my soul? and why dost thou trouble me? Hope in God, because yet I will confess to him: the salvation of my countenance,Why art thou ſorowful my ſoule? and why doſt thou truble me? Hope in God, becauſe yet I wil confeſſe to him: the ſaluation of my conntenance,Quare tristis es, anima mea ? et quare conturbas me ? Spera in Deo, quoniam adhuc confitebor illi, salutare vultus mei,

and my God. My soul is troubled toward myself: therefore will I be mindful of thee from the land of Jordan, and Hermoniim from the little mountain.and my God. My ſoule is trubled toward my ſelfe: therfore wil I be mindful of thee from the land of Iordan, and Hermoniim from the litle mountaine.et Deus meus. Ad meipsum anima mea conturbata est : propterea memor ero tui de terra Jordanis et Hermoniim a monte modico.

Depth calleth on depth, in the voice of thy flood-gates. All thy high things, and thy waves have passed over me.Depth calleth on depth, in the voice of thy floud-gates. Al thy high thinges, and thy waues haue paſſed ouer me.Abyssus abyssum invocat, in voce cataractarum tuarum ; omnia excelsa tua, et fluctus tui super me transierunt.

In the day our Lord hath commanded his mercy: and in the night a song of him.In the day our Lord hath commanded his mercie: and in the night a ſong of him.In die mandavit Dominus misericordiam suam, et nocte canticum ejus ; apud me oratio Deo vitæ meæ.

With me is prayer to the God of my life: I will say to God: Thou art my defender. Why hast thou forgotten me? and why go I sorrowful, whiles mine enemy afflicteth me?With me is prayer to the God of my life: I wil ſay to God: Thou art my defender. Why haſt thou forgotten me? and why goe I ſorowful, whiles mine enemie afflicteth me?Dicam Deo : Susceptor meus es ; quare oblitus es mei ? et quare contristatus incedo, dum affligit me inimicus ?

Whiles my bones are broken, mine enemies that trouble me have exprobraverunt: reproached, reviled, cast a fault in my teeth me: Whiles they say to me day by day: Where is thy God?Whiles my bones are broken, mine enemies that truble me haue vpbrayded me: Whiles they ſay to me day by day: Where is thy God?Dum confringuntur ossa mea, exprobraverunt mihi qui tribulant me inimici mei, dum dicunt mihi per singulos dies : Ubi est Deus tuus ?

Why art thou tristis: weighty; sad, downcast, sorrowful O my soul? and why dost thou trouble me? Hope in God, because yet I will confess to him: the salvation of my countenance, and my God.Why art thou heauie ô my ſoule? & why doſt thou truble me? Hope in God, becauſe yet I wil confeſſe to him: the ſaluation of my countenance, and my God.Quare tristis es, anima mea ? et quare conturbas me ? Spera in Deo, quoniam adhuc confitebor illi, salutare vultus mei, et Deus meus.
