He proceedeth to make peace between the Christian Gentiles and Jews. 8 with this resolution, that the Jews' vocation is of promise indeed, but the Gentiles also of mercy, and foretold by the Scriptures. 14 Then drawing to an end, he excuseth himself to the Romans for writing thus unto them, 21 hoping now at length to see them, after that he hath been at Hierusalem, 29 whereunto also he requesteth their prayers. He proceedeth to make peace betwene the Christian Gentils and Iewes. 8 with this resolution, that the Iewes vocation is of promis in deede, but the Gentils also of mercie, and foretold by the Scriptures. 14 Then drawing to an ende, he excuseth him self to the Romanes for writing thus vnto them, 21 hoping now at length to see them, after that he hath been at Hierusalem, 29 wherevnto also he requesteth their praiers.
And we that are the stronger, must sustinere: keep up, maintain, prolong; bear, support, uphold, endure the infirmities of the weak, and not please ourselves.AND we that are the strõger, must susteine the infirmities of the weake, & not please our selues.
Let every one of you please his neighbour unto good, to edification.Let euery one of you please his neighbour vnto good, to edification.
For, Christ did not please himself, but as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee, fell upon me.For, Christ did not please him self, but as it is written, *The reproches of them that reproched thee, fel vpon me.*Etenim Christus non sibi placuit, sed sicut scriptum est : Improperia improperantium tibi ceciderunt super me.
For what things soever have been written, to our learning they are written: that by the patience and consolation of the Scriptures, we may have hope. For what things soeuer haue been written, to our learning they are written: that by the patience and consolation of the Scriptures, we may haue hope.
And the God of patience and of comfort give you to be of one mind one toward another according to Jesus Christ:And the God of patience and of comfort giue you to be of one minde one toward an other according to Iesvs Christ:Deus autem patientiæ et solatii det vobis idipsum sapere in alterutrum secundum Jesum Christum :
that of one mind, with one mouth you may glorify God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.that of ᶜone minde, with one mouth you may glorifie God and the Father of our Lord Iesvs Christ.ut unanimes, uno ore honorificetis Deum et patrem Domini nostri Jesu Christi.
For the which cause receive one another: as Christ also hath received you unto the honour of God.For the which cause receiue one an other: as Christ also hath receiued you vnto the honour of God.Propter quod suscipite invicem, sicut et Christus suscepit vos in honorem Dei.
For I say Christ Jesus to have been minister of the circumcisionis: the circumcised people, the Jews for the verity of God, to confirm the promises of the fathers. For I say Christ Iesvs to haue been minister of the circumcision for the veritie of God, to confirme the promisses of the fathers.Dico enim Christum Jesum ministrum fuisse circumcisionis propter veritatem Dei, ad confirmandas promissiones patrum :
But the Gentiles to honour God for his mercy, as it is written, Therefore will I confess to thee in the Gentiles O Lord, and will sing to thy name. But the Gentils to honour God for his mercie, as it is written, *Therefore wil I confesse to thee in the Gentils ô Lord, and wil sing to thy name.*gentes autem super misericordia honorare Deum, sicut scriptum est : Propterea confitebor tibi in gentibus, Domine, et nomini tuo cantabo.
And again he saith, Rejoice ye Gentiles with his people. And againe he saith, *Reioyce ye Gentils with his people.*Et iterum dicit : Lætamini gentes cum plebe ejus.
And again, Praise all ye Gentiles our Lord: and magnify him all ye peoples. And againe, *Praise al ye Gentils our Lord: and magnifie him al ye peoples.*Et iterum : Laudate omnes gentes Dominum : et magnificate eum omnes populi.
And again Esaie saith, There shall be the root of Jesse: and he that shall rise up to rule the Gentiles, in him the Gentiles shall hope. And againe Esaie saith, *There shal be the roote of Iesse: and he that shal rise vp to rule the Gentils, in him the Gentils shal hope.*Et rursus Isaias ait : Erit radix Jesse, et qui exsurget regere gentes, in eum gentes sperabunt.
And the God of hope repleat: refill, restock what is depleted; fill completely, fill full you with all joy and peace in believing: that you may abound in hope, and in the virtute: moral goodness, an ethical virtue; power, might, efficacy of the holy Ghost. And the God of hope replenish you with al ioy and peace in beleeuing: that you may abound in hope, and in the vertue of the holy Ghost.
And I myself also, my brethren, am assured of you, that you also are full of love, replenished with all knowledge, so that you are able to admonish one another. And I my self also, my brethren, am assured of you, that you also are ful of loue, replenished with al knowledge, so that you are able to admonish one an other.
But I have written to you (brethren) more boldly in part, as it were putting you in remembrance: for the grace which is given me of God,But I haue written to you (brethren) more boldly in part, as it were putting you in remembrance: for the grace which is giuen me of God,Audacius autem scripsi vobis fratres ex parte, tamquam in memoriam vos reducens : propter gratiam, quæ data est mihi a Deo,
that I be the minister of Christ Jesus in the Gentiles: sanctifying the Gospel of God, that the oblation of the Gentiles may be made acceptable and sanctified in the holy Ghost.that I be the minister of Christ Iesvs in the Gẽtils: sanctifying the Gospel of God, that the oblation of the Gentils may be made acceptable and sanctified in the holy Ghost.ut sim minister Christi Jesu in gentibus : sanctificans Evangelium Dei, ut fiat oblatio gentium accepta, et sanctificata in Spiritu Sancto.
I have therefore glory in Christ Jesus toward God.I haue therfore glorie in Christ Iesvs toward God.Habeo igitur gloriam in Christo Jesu ad Deum.
For I dare not speak any of those things which Christ worketh not by me for the obedience of the Gentiles, by word and deeds,For I dare not speake any of those things which Christ worketh not by me for the obedience of the Gentils, by word and deedes,Non enim audeo aliquid loqui eorum, quæ per me non efficit Christus in obedientiam gentium, verbo et factis :
in the virtue of signs and wonders, in the virtue of the holy Ghost: so that from Hierusalem round about unto Illyricum I have replenished the Gospel of Christ.in the vertue of signes and wonders, in the vertue of the holy Ghost: so that from Hierusalem round about vnto Illyricum I haue replenished the Gospel of Christ.in virtute signorum, et prodigiorum, in virtute Spiritus Sancti : ita ut ab Jerusalem per circuitum usque ad Illyricum repleverim Evangelium Christi.
And I have so preached this Gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon another man's foundation:And I haue so preached this Gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build vpon an other mans foundation:Sic autem prædicavi Evangelium hoc, non ubi nominatus est Christus, ne super alienum fundamentum ædificarem :
but as it is written, They to whom it hath not been preached of him, shall see: and they that have not heard, shall understand.but as it is written, *They to whom it hath not been preached of him, shal see: and they that haue not heard, shal vnderstand.*sed sicut scriptum est : Quibus non est annuntiatum de eo, videbunt : et qui non audierunt, intelligent.
For the which cause also I was hindered very much from coming unto you.For the which cause also I was hindred very much from comming vnto you.
But now having no longer place in these countries, and having a desire to come unto you these many years now passed:But now hauing no longer place in these countries, and hauing a desire to come vnto you these many yeres now passed:Nunc vero ulterius locum non habens in his regionibus, cupiditatem autem habens veniendi ad vos ex multis jam præcedentibus annis :
when I shall begin to take my journey into Spain, I hope that as I pass, I shall see you, and be brought thither of you, if first in part I shall have enjoyed you.when I shal begin to take my iourney into Spaine, I hope that as I passe, I shal see you, and be brought thither of you, if first in part I shal haue enioyed you.cum in Hispaniam proficisci cœpero, spero quod præteriens videam vos, et a vobis deducar illuc, si vobis primum ex parte fruitus fuero.
Now therefore I will go unto Hierusalem to minister to the saints. Now therfore I wil goe vnto Hierusalem to minister to the saincts.Nunc igitur proficiscar in Jerusalem ministrare sanctis.
For Macedonia and Achaia have liked well to make some contribution upon the poor saints that are in Hierusalem. For Macedonia and Achaia haue liked wel to make some contribution vpon the poore saincts that are in Hierusalem.
For it hath pleased them: and they are their debtors. For if the Gentiles be made partakers of their spiritual things: they ought also in carnalibus: sexual, sensual, of the bodily appetites; bodily, material, temporal things to minister unto them. For it hath pleased them: and they are their detters. For if the Gentiles be made partakers of their spiritual things: they ought also in carnal things to minister vnto them.
This therefore when I shall have accomplished, and assignavero: wrote one's signature; sealed up, made over, consigned them this fruit, I will go by you into Spain. This therfore when I shal haue accomplished, and signed them this fruite, I wil goe by you into Spaine.
And I know that coming to you, I shall come in abundance of the blessing of Christ. And I know that comming to you, I shal come in aboundance of the blessing of Christ.
And I beseech you therefore brethren by our Lord Jesus Christ, and by the charity of the holy Ghost, that you help me in your prayers for me to God,And I beseech you therfore brethren by our Lord Iesvs Christ, and by the charitie of the holy Ghost, that you helpe me in your praiers for me to God,Obsecro ergo vos fratres per Dominum nostrum Jesum Christum, et per caritatem Sancti Spiritus, ut adjuvetis me in orationibus vestris pro me ad Deum,
that I may be delivered from the infidelibus: unbelievers, the unbelieving that are in Judæa: Jewry, i.e. Judea, and the oblation of my service may become acceptable in Hierusalem to the saints, that I may be deliuered from the infidels that are in Iewrie, and the oblation of my seruice may become acceptable in Hierusalem to the saincts,ut liberer ab infidelibus, qui sunt in Judæa, et obsequii mei oblatio accepta fiat in Jerusalem sanctis,
that I may come to you in joy by the will of God, that I may be refreshed with you.that I may come to you in ioy by the wil of God, that I may be refreshed with you.ut veniam ad vos in gaudio per voluntatem Dei, et refrigerer vobiscum.
And the God of peace be with you all. Amen. And the God of peace be with you al. Amen.Deus autem pacis sit cum omnibus vobis. Amen.
