And it came to pass as it were a month after, Naas the Ammonite ascended, and began to fight against Jabes Galaad. 3And the seniores: the elders, the senior men, not aged persons of Jabes said to him: Grant unto us seven days, that we may send messengers unto the terminos: borders, territory, not seashores of Israel: and if there shall not be that may defend us, we will come forth to thee.And the ancientes of Iabes said to him: Graunt vnto vs seuen daies, that we may send messengers vnto the coastes of Israel: and if there shal not be that may defend vs, we wil come forth to thee.✦Et dixerunt ad eum seniores Jabes : Concede nobis septem dies, ut mittamus nuntios ad universos terminos Israël, et si non fuerit qui defendat nos, egrediemur ad te.

5And behold Saul came, following oxen out of the field, and said: What aileth the people that they weep? The messengers therefore came, and told the men of Jabes: Who were glad.And they said to the messengers that came: Thus shal you say to the men, that are in Iabes Galaad: To morow, when the sunne shal waxe hote, you shal haue relife. The messengers therefore came, and told the men of Iabes: Who were glad.✦Et dixerunt nuntiis qui venerant : Sic dicetis viris qui sunt in Jabes Galaad : Cras erit vobis salus, cum incaluerit sol. Venerunt ergo nuntii, et annuntiaverunt viris Jabes : qui lætati sunt.

11And it came to pass, when the morrow was come, Saul set the people into three parts: and entered into the midst of the camp in the morning watch, and struck Ammon until the day waxed hot, and the rest were dispersed, so that there were not left among them two together.And it came to passe, when the morow was come, Saul sette the people into three partes: and entered into the middes of the campe in the morning watch, and stroke Ammon vntil the day waxed hote, and the rest were dispersed, so that there were not left among them two together.✦Et factum est, cum dies crastinus venisset, constituit Saul populum in tres partes : et ingressus est media castra in vigilia matutina, et percussit Ammon usque dum incalesceret dies : reliqui autem dispersi sunt, ita ut non relinquerentur in eis duo pariter.
12And the people said to Samuel: Who is this that said: what shall Saul reign over us? 13And Saul said: No man shall be killed this day, because our Lord this day hath delivered Israel:And Saul said: No man shal be killed this day, because our Lord this day hath deliuered Israel:✦Et ait Saul : Non occidetur quisquam in die hac, quia hodie fecit Dominus salutem in Israël.
14And Samuel said to the people: Come and let us go into Galgal, and let us renew there a kingdom.And Samuel said to the people: Come and let vs goe into Galgal, and let vs renew there a kingdome.✦Dixit autem Samuel ad populum : Venite, et eamus in Galgala, et innovemus ibi regnum.
15And all the people went into Galgal, and there they made Saul king before our Lord in Galgal, & they immolaverunt: sacrificed, offered up there pacificas: peace (offerings) victimas: sacrificial offerings, not casualties before our Lord. And Saul rejoiced there, and all the men of Israel exceedingly.And al the people went into Galgal, and there they made Saul king before our Lord in Galgal, & they immolated there pacifique victimes before our Lord. And Saul reioysed there, and al the men of Israel exceedingly.✦Et perrexit omnis populus in Galgala, et fecerunt ibi regem Saul coram Domino in Galgala, et immolaverunt ibi victimas pacificas coram Domino.
