And Jonathas went with the king even to the river, that was called Eleutherus: and he returned into Jerusalem.other, and they slept there. 9And sent legatos: envoys, ambassadors to Demetrius, saying: Come, let us make a league between us, and I will give thee my daughter that Alexander hath, and thou shalt reign in the kingdom of thy father.purposed euil purposes against Alexander. 10For it repenteth me that I have given him my daughter: for he hath sought to kill me.shalt reigne in the kingdom of thy father. For it repenteth me that I haue geuen him my daughter: for he hath sought to✦pœnitet enim me quod dederim illi filiam meam : quæsivit enim me occidere.
11And he vituperavit: disparaged, spoke against him, for that he coveted his kingdom,kil me. And he disprased him, for that he coueted his king-Et vituperavit eum, propterea quod concupierat regnum ejus.

14But Alexander the king was in Cilicia at that time: because they rebelled that were in those places.he put two crownes vpon his head, of Egypt, & of Asia. 40And he lay upon him, to deliver this Antiochus unto him, to reign in his father's place: and he declared unto him what great things Demetrius did, and the enmities of his hosts against him. 41And Jonathas sent to Demetrius the king, that he would cast out them, that were in the castle in Jerusalem, and that were in the holds: because they impugnabant: assailed, attacked Israel.against him. And he taried there manie dayes. 43Now therefore thou shalt do well if thou wilt send men to help me: because all mine army is departed.when it shal be time conuenient. Now therfore thou shalt doe wel if thou wilt send men to helpe me: because al mineNunc ergo recte feceris, si miseris in auxilium mihi viros : quia discessit omnis exercitus meus.
44And Jonathas sent him three thousand valiant men to Antioch: and they came to the king, and the king was delighted at their coming.armie is departed. 45And there assembled they that were of the city, an hundred twenty thousand men, and they would have slain the king.king was delighted at their coming. 46And the king fled into the court: and they that were of the city kept the ways of the city, and began to fight.and they would haue slaine the king. 48And they slew in that day an hundred thousand men, and they burnt the city, and took many spoils in that day, and delivered the king.al dispersed through the citie. 49And they that were of the city saw, that the Jews had obtained the city as they would: and they were infirmati: disheartened, dismayed in their mind,manie spoiles in that day, and deliuered the king. And they that were of the citie saw, that the Iewes had obteyned the citie as they would: and they were discomfited in their minde,Et viderunt qui erant de civitate, quod obtinuissent Judæi civitatem sicut volebant : et infirmati sunt mente sua, et clamaverunt ad regem cum precibus, dicentes :
50and cried to the king with petitions, saying: Give us the right hand, and let the Jews cease to oppugnare: assail, make war on us, and the city.and cried to the king with petitions, saying: Geue vs the right hand, and let the Iewes cease to oppugne vs, and the citie.Da nobis dextras, et cessent Judæi oppugnare nos, et civitatem.

55And there gathered unto him all the bands, which Demetrius had dispersed, and they fought against him: and he fled, and turned the back.And there gathered vnto him al the bandes, which Demetrius had dispersed, and they fought agaynst him: and he fled, and turned the backe.Et congregati sunt ad eum omnes exercitus, quos disperserat Demetrius, et pugnaverunt contra eum : et fugit, et terga vertit.
56And Tryphon took the beasts, and won Antioch.And Tryphon tooke the beastes, and wanne Antioch.✦Et accepit Tryphon bestias, et obtinuit Antiochiam.
57And Antiochus the young man wrote to Jonathas, saying: I appoint to thee the priesthood, and I place thee over the four cities, that thou mayst be of the king's friends.And Antiochus the yong man wrote to Ionathas, saying: I appoynt to thee the priesthood, and I place thee ouer the foure cities, that thou mayst be of the kings freinds.Et scripsit Antiochus adolescens Jonathæ, dicens : Constituo tibi sacerdotium, et constituo te super quatuor civitates, ut sis de amicis regis.
