9Hazael therefore went to meet him, having with him presents, and all good things of Damascus, the loads of forty camels. And when he stood before him, he said: Thy son Benadad the king of Syria hath sent me to thee, saying: Can I recover of this mine infirmity?Hazael therfore went to meete him, hauing with him presentes, and al good thinges of Damascus, the lodes of fourtie camels. 12To whom Hazael said: Why doeth my lord weep? But he said: Because I know what evils thou wilt do to the children of Israel. Their munitas: enclosed with a fence; fortified, walled cities thou wilt burn with fire, and their young men thou wilt kill with the sword, and their little ones thou wilt dash in pieces, and women with child thou wilt divides: cut or rip asunder.To whom Hazael sayd: Why doeth my lord weepe? Their fensed cities thou wilt burne with fyre, and their yongmen thou wilt kil with the sword, and their litle ones thou wilt dash in peeces, and wemen with childe thou wilt diuide.Cui Hazaël ait : Quare dominus meus flet ? At ille dixit : Quia scio quæ facturus sis filiis Israël mala. Civitates eorum munitas igne succendes, et juvenes eorum interficies gladio, et parvulos eorum elides, et prægnantes divides.
13And Hazael said: What am I thy servant a dog, that I should do this great thing? And Eliseus said: Our Lord hath shewed me that thou shalt be king of Syria.And Hazael sayd: What am I thy seruant a dog, that I should doe this great thing? And Eliseus sayd: Our Lord hath shewed me that thou shalt be king of Syria.✦Dixitque Hazaël : Quid enim sum servus tuus canis, ut faciam rem istam magnam ? 14Who when he was departed from Eliseus, came to his master, who said to him: What said Eliseus to thee?
