And our Lord spake to Moyses, saying: Go, get thee up from this place, thou and thy people which thou hast brought out of the Land of Egypt, into the land whereof I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying: To thy seed I will give it:AND our Lord spake to Moyses, saying: Goe, get thee vp from this place, thou and thy people which thou hast brought out of the Land of Ægypt, into the land wherof I sware to Abraham, Isaac, and Iacob, saying: To thy seede I wil giue it:Locutusque est Dominus ad Moysen, dicens : Vade, ascende de loco isto tu, et populus tuus quem eduxisti de terra Ægypti, in terram quam juravi Abraham, Isaac et Jacob, dicens : Semini tuo dabo eam :
2and I will send an Angel thy precursor, that I may cast out the Chananeite, and Amorrheite, and Hetheite, and Pherezeite, and Heveite, and Jebuseite,and I wil send an Angel thy precursor, that I may cast out the Chananeite, and Amorrheite, and Hetheite, and Pherezeite, and Heueite, and Iebuseite,et mittam præcursorem tui angelum, ut ejiciam Chananæum, et Amorrhæum, et Hethæum, et Pherezæum, et Hevæum, et Jebusæum,

5And our Lord said to Moyses: Speak to the children of Israel: Thou art a stiff-necked people, once I shall go up in the midst of thee, and shall destroy thee. Now presently lay away thy ornaments, that I may know what to do unto thee.And our Lord said to Moyses: Speake to the children of Israel: Thou art a stiffe-necked people, once I shal go vp in the middes of thee, and shal destroy thee. Now presently lay away thy ornaments, that I may know what to do vnto thee.Dixitque Dominus ad Moysen : Loquere filiis Israël : Populus duræ cervicis es : semel ascendam in medio tui, et delebo te. Jam nunc depone ornatum tuum, ut sciam quid faciam tibi.

7Moyses also taking the tabernacle, pitched it without the camp a far off, and called the name thereof, The Tabernacle of covenant. 8And when Moyses went forth to the tabernacle, all the people rose up, and every one stood in the door of his tent · Vulgate: papilio, and they beheld the back of Moyses, till he entered into the tabernacle.And when Moyses went forth to the tabernacle, al the people rose vp, and euery one stood in the dore of his pauilion, and they beheld the backe of Moyses, til he entered into the tabernacle.Cumque egrederetur Moyses ad tabernaculum, surgebat universa plebs, et stabat unusquisque in ostio papilionis sui, aspiciebantque tergum Moysi, donec ingrederetur tentorium.
9And when he was entered into the Tabernacle of covenant, the pillar of the cloud came down, and stood at the door, and he spake with Moyses,And when he was entered into the Tabernacle of couenant, the piller of the cloud came downe, and stood at the dore, & he spake with Moyses,Ingresso autem illo tabernaculum fœderis, descendebat columna nubis, et stabat ad ostium, loquebaturque cum Moyse,
10all they beholding that the pillar of the cloud stood at the door of the Tabernacle. And they stood, and adored at the doors of their tabernacles.al they beholding that the piller of the cloud stood at the dore of the Tabernacle. And they stood, & adored at the dores of their tabernacles.cernentibus universis quod columna nubis staret ad ostium tabernaculi. Stabantque ipsi, et adorabant per fores tabernaculorum suorum.
11And our Lord spake unto Moyses face to face, as a man is wont to speak to his friend. And when he returned into the camp, his minister Josue the son of Nun, a young man, departed not from the Tabernacle.And our Lord spake vnto Moyses face to face, as a man is wont to speake to his frend. Cumque ille reverteretur in castra, minister ejus Josue filius Nun, puer, non recedebat de tabernaculo.
12And Moyses said to our Lord: Thou commandest me to lead forth this people, and dost not shew me whom thou wilt send with me, especially whereas thou hast said: I know thee by name, and thou hast found grace in my sight.And Moyses said to our Lord: Thou commandest me to leade forth this people, & doest not shew me whom thou wilt send with me, especially whereas thou hast said: I know thee by name, and thou hast found grace in my sight.Dixit autem Moyses ad Dominum : Præcipis ut educam populum istum : et non indicas mihi quem missurus es mecum, præsertim cum dixeris : Novi te ex nomine, et invenisti gratiam coram me.
13If therefore I have found grace in thy sight, shew me thy face, that I may know thee, and may find grace before thine eyes, look upon thy people this nation.If therefore I haue found grace in thy sight, shew me thy face, that I may know thee, and may find grace before thine eyes, looke vpon thy people this nation.Si ergo inveni gratiam in conspectu tuo, ostende mihi faciem tuam, ut sciam te, et inveniam gratiam ante oculos tuos : respice populum tuum gentem hanc.
14And our Lord said: My face shall go before thee, and I will give thee rest.And our Lord said: My face shal go before thee, & I wil giue thee rest.Dixitque Dominus : Facies mea præcedet te, et requiem dabo tibi.
15And Moyses said: If thyself dost not go before, bring us not out of this place.And Moyses said: If thyself doest not go before, bring vs not out of this place.Et ait Moyses : Si non tu ipse præcedas, ne educas nos de loco isto.
16For whereby shall we be able to know I and thy people, that we have found grace in thy sight, unless thou walk with us that we may be glorified of all peoples, that dwell upon the earth?For wherby shal we be able to know I and thy people, that we haue found grace in thy sight, vnlesse thou walke with vs that we may be glorified of al peoples, that dwel vpon the earth?In quo enim scire poterimus ego et populus tuus invenisse nos gratiam in conspectu tuo, nisi ambulaveris nobiscum, ut glorificemur ab omnibus populis qui habitant super terram ?
17And our Lord said to Moyses: This word also, which thou hast spoken, will I do: for thou hast found grace before me, and thyself I have known by name.And our Lord said to Moyses: This word also, which thou hast spoken, wil I do: for thou hast found grace before me, and thyself I haue knowen by name.Dixit autem Dominus ad Moysen : Et verbum istud, quod locutus es, faciam : invenisti enim gratiam coram me, et teipsum novi ex nomine.
18Who said: Shew me thy glory.Who said: Shew me thy glorie.Qui ait : Ostende mihi gloriam tuam.
19He answered: I will shew thee all good, and will call in the name of the Lord before thee: and I will have mercy on whom I will, and I will be merciful to whom it shall please me.He answered: I wil shew thee al good, and wil call in the name of the Lord before thee: and I wil haue mercie on whom I wil, and I wil be merciful to whom it shal please me.Respondit : Ego ostendam omne bonum tibi, et vocabo in nomine Domini coram te : et miserebor cui voluero, et clemens ero in quem mihi placuerit.
20And again he said: Thou canst not see my face: for man shall not see me, and live.And againe he said: Thou canst not see my face: for man shal not see me, & liue.Rursumque ait : Non poteris videre faciem meam : non enim videbit me homo et vivet.
21And again: Behold, quoth he, there is a place with me, and thou shalt stand upon the rock.And againe: Behold, quoth he, there is a place with me, and thou shalt stand vpon the rocke.Et iterum : Ecce, inquit, est locus apud me, et stabis supra petram.
22And when my glory shall pass, I will set thee in a hole of the rock, and protect thee with my right hand, until I pass:And when my glorie shal passe, I wil set thee in a hole of the rocke, & protect thee with my right hand, vntil I passe:Cumque transibit gloria mea, ponam te in foramine petræ, et protegam dextera mea, donec transeam :
23and I will take away my hand, and thou shalt see my back-parts: but my face thou canst not see.and I wil take away my hand, and thou shalt see my back-partes: but my face thou canst not see.tollamque manum meam, et videbis posteriora mea : faciem autem meam videre non poteris.
