And there came all the Princes of the men of war, and Johanan the son of Caree, and Jezonias the son of Osaias, and the rest of the common people from little unto great:AND there came al the Princes of the men of warre, and Iohanan the sonne of Caree, and Iezonias the sonne of Osaias, and the rest of the common people from litle vnto great:Et accesserunt omnes principes bellatorum, et Johanan filius Caree, et Jezonias filius Osaiæ, et reliquum vulgus, a parvo usque ad magnum,
And they said to Jeremie the prophet: Let our prayer fall in thy sight: and pray for us to the Lord thy God for all this remnant, because we are left few of many, as thine eyes do behold us.And they said to Ieremie the prophet: Let our prayer fal in thy sight: and pray for vs to the Lord thy God for al this remnant, because we are left few of manie, as thine eies doe behold vs.✦dixeruntque ad Jeremiam prophetam : Cadat oratio nostra in conspectu tuo, et ora pro nobis ad Dominum Deum tuum, pro universis reliquiis istis, quia derelicti sumus pauci de pluribus, sicut oculi tui nos intuentur :
And let our Lord thy God tell us the way, by which we may go, and the word that we must do.And let our Lord thy God tel vs the way, by which we may goe, and the * word that we must doe.et annuntiet nobis Dominus Deus tuus viam per quam pergamus, et verbum quod faciamus.
And Jeremie the prophet said to them: I have heard: behold I pray to our Lord your God according to your words: every word whatsoever he shall answer me, I will tell you: neither will I conceal from you any thing. And Ieremie the prophet said to them: I haue heard: behold I pray to our Lord your God according to your wordes: euerie word whatsoeuer he shal answer me, I wil tel you: neither wil I conceale from you anie thing.Dixit autem ad eos Jeremias propheta : Audivi. Ecce ego oro ad Dominum Deum vestrum secundum verba vestra : omne verbum quodcumque responderit mihi indicabo vobis, nec celabo vos quidquam.
And they said to Jeremie: Be our Lord witness between us of truth and faith, if we do not according to every word, for the which our Lord, thy God shall send thee to us.And they said to Ieremie: Be our Lord witnes betwen vs of truth and faith, if we doe not according to euerie word, for the which our Lord, thy God shal send thee to vs.Et illi dixerunt ad Jeremiam : Sit Dominus inter nos testis veritatis et fidei, si non juxta omne verbum in quo miserit te Dominus Deus tuus ad nos, sic faciemus :
Whether it be good, or evil, we will obey the voice of the Lord our God, to whom we send thee: that it may be well with us, when we shall hear the voice of the Lord our God.Whether it be good, or euil, we wil obey the voice of the Lord our God, to whom we send thee: that it may be wel with vs, when we shal heare the voice of the Lord our God.sive bonum est, sive malum, voci Domini Dei nostri, ad quem mittimus te, obediemus, ut bene sit nobis cum audierimus vocem Domini Dei nostri.
And when ten days were accomplished, the word of our Lord was made to Jeremie. And when ten dayes were accomplished, the word of our Lord was made to Ieremie.✦Cum autem completi essent decem dies, factum est verbum Domini ad Jeremiam,
And he called Johanan the son of Caree, and all the princes of the men of war, that were with him, and the whole people from little to great. And he called Iohanan the sonne of Caree, and al the princes of the men of warre, that were with him, and the whole people from litle to great.vocavitque Johanan filium Caree, et omnes principes bellatorum qui erant cum eo, et universum populum, a minimo usque ad magnum.
And he said to them: Thus saith our Lord the God of Israel, to whom you sent me, that I should prosternerem: lay low, humbly present your prayers in his sight:And he said to them: Thus saith our Lord the God of Israel, to whom you sent me, that I should prostrate your prayers in his sight:Et dixit ad eos : Hæc dicit Dominus Deus Israël, ad quem misistis me ut prosternerem preces vestras in conspectu ejus :
If resting you will abide in this land, I will build you, and not destroy you; I will plant, and not pluck you up: for now I am pacified upon the evil that I have done to you.If resting you wil abide in this land, I wil build you, and not destroy you; I wil plant, and not plucke you vp: for now I am pacified vpon the euil that I haue done to you.✦Si quiescentes manseritis in terra hac, ædificabo vos, et non destruam : plantabo, et non evellam : jam enim placatus sum super malo quod feci vobis.
Fear not at the face of the king of Babylon, of whom you being fearful are afraid: fear him not, saith our Lord: because I am with you, to save you, and to deliver you out of his hand.Feare not at the face of the king of Babylon, of whom you being feareful are afraid: feare him not, saith our Lord: because I am with you, to saue you, and to deliuer you out of his hand.Nolite timere a facie regis Babylonis, quem vos pavidi formidatis : nolite metuere eum, dicit Dominus, quia vobiscum sum ego ut salvos vos faciam, et eruam de manu ejus :
And I will give you mercies, and will have mercy upon you, and will make you dwell in your own land. And I wil geue you mercies, and wil haue mercie vpon you, and wil make you dwel in your owne land.et dabo vobis misericordias, et miserebor vestri, et habitare vos faciam in terra vestra.
But if you shall say: We will not dwell in this land, neither will we hear the voice of the Lord our God,But if you shal say: We wil not dwel in this land, neither wil we heare the voice of the Lord our God,Si autem dixeritis vos : Non habitabimus in terra ista, nec audiemus vocem Domini Dei nostri,
saying: No, not so, but we will go forward to the Land of Egypt: where we shall not see war, and not hear the sound of the trumpet, and shall not sustain famine: and there we will dwell.saying: No, not so, but we wil goe forward to the Land of Ægypt: where we shal not see warre, and not heare the sound of the trumpet, and shal not susteyne famine: and there we wil dwel.✦dicentes : Nequaquam, sed ad terram Ægypti pergemus, ubi non videbimus bellum, et clangorem tubæ non audiemus, et famem non sustinebimus, et ibi habitabimus :
For this now hear the word of our Lord ye remnant of Juda: Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: If you shall set your face to go into Egypt, and shall enter to inhabit there:For this now heare the word of our Lord ye remnant of Iuda: Thus saith the Lord of hostes, the God of Israel: If you shal set your face to goe into Ægypt, and shal enter to inhabite there:propter hoc nunc audite verbum Domini, reliquiæ Juda : Hæc dicit Dominus exercituum, Deus Israël : Si posueritis faciem vestram ut ingrediamini Ægyptum, et intraveritis ut ibi habitetis,
the sword which you fear, shall there take you in the Land of Egypt: and the famine, for the which you are solliciti: anxious, over-solicitous (NOT painstaking), shall adhaerebit: cling, adhere (NOT split) to you in Egypt, and there you shall die.the sword which you feare, shal there take you in the Land of Ægypt: and the famine, for the which you are careful, shal cleeue to you in Ægypt, and there you shal dye.gladius quem vos formidatis ibi comprehendet vos in terra Ægypti : et fames, pro qua estis solliciti, adhærebit vobis in Ægypto, et ibi moriemini.
And all the men, that shall set their face to go into Egypt, to dwell there, shall die by the sword, and by famine, and by pestilence: none of them shall remain, nor escape from the face of the evil, that I will bring upon them. And al the men, that shal set their face to goe into Ægypt, to dwel there, shal dye by the sword, and by famine, and by pestilence: none of them shal remaine, nor escape from the face of the euil, that I wil bring vpon them.
Because thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: As my fury is poured out, and mine indignation upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem: so shall mine indignation be poured out upon you, when you shall be entered into Egypt, and you shall be into an oath, and into astonishment, and into a curse, and into reproach: and you shall no more see this place.Because thus saith the Lord of hostes, the God of Israel: As my furie is powred out, and mine indignation vpon the inhabitants of Ierusalem: so shal mine indignation be powred out vpon you, when you shal be entered into Ægypt, and you shal be into an othe, and into astonishment, and into a curse, and into reproch: and you shal no more see this place.
The word of our Lord is upon you O remnant of Juda: Enter not into Egypt: knowing you shall know that I have obtestatus: solemnly charged under oath you this day,The word of our Lord is vpon you o remnant of Iuda: Enter not into Ægypt: knowing you shal know that I haue adiured you this day,✦Verbum Domini super vos, reliquiæ Juda : Nolite intrare Ægyptum : scientes scietis, quia obtestatus sum vos hodie,
because you have deceived your souls: for you sent me to the Lord our God, saying: Pray for us to the Lord our God, and according to all things whatsoever the Lord our God shall say to thee, so tell us, and we will do.because you haue deceiued your soules: for you sent me to the Lord our God, saying: Pray for vs to the Lord our God, and according to al thinges whatsoeuer the Lord our God shal say to thee, so tel vs, and we wil doe.quia decepistis animas vestras.
And I have told you this day, and you have not heard the voice of the Lord your God concerning all things, for which he hath sent me to you.And I haue told you this day, and you haue not heard the voice of the Lord your God concerning al thinges, for which he hath sent me to you.
Now therefore knowing you shall know that by sword, and famine, and pestilence you shall die in the place, to which you would enter for to dwell there. Now therefore knowing you shal know that by sword, and famine, and pestilence you shal dye in the place, to which you would enter for to dwel there.
