- 1Jeremie, in an alphabetical order, lamenteth the manifold miseries and desolation of Jerusalem, led into captivity for her sins: 12. calling all that pass by to behold her sorrow, 18. confesseth God's justice, and prayeth that vengeance may light upon her enemies.
- 2The prophet continueth his alphabetical lamentation: how our Lord in his fury hath covered and cast down the daughter of Sion, destroyed her sanctuary, walls, and solemnities: 11. the miseries of the famine, the mothers eating their own children: 14. how her false prophets deceived her, and her enemies rejoice over her: 18. he exhorteth her to cry unto our Lord day and night.
