He commendeth the poore widow for her two mites. 5. Hauing said that the Temple shal be quite destroied, 7. he foretelleth first many things that shal goe before, 20. then a signe also when it is neere, after which al shal come the desolation it self in most horrible maner, without hope of restitution, vntil al Nations of the Gentiles be gathered into his Church in the very end of the world. 25. And then what signes shal come of the last day, terrible to the wicked, 28. but comfortable to vs of his Church, 34. so that we be alwaies watchful.

3And he said: Verily I say to you, that this poor widow hath cast more than all.And he said: Verily I say to you, that this poore widow hath cast more then al.Et dixit : Vere dico vobis, quia vidua hæc pauper plus quam omnes misit.

34And look well to your selves, lest perhaps your hearts be graventur: billed too high a price with crapula: gluttonous over-indulgence in food and drink and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly:And looke wel to your selues, lest perhaps your hartes be ouercharged with surfetting and drunkennesse, and cares of this life, and that day come vpon you sodenly:Attendite autem vobis, ne forte graventur corda vestra in crapula, et ebrietate, et curis hujus vitæ, et superveniat in vos repentina dies illa :

4Of her penury. To offer, or give alms of our superfluities, is not so acceptable nor meritorious, as to bestow some of that which is of our necessary provision and which we may hardly spare from our selves: for, that proceedeth of greater zeal, will, and intention, which be more respected of God than the substance of the gift.
