And he came to Derbe and Lystra. And behold, there was a certain disciple there named Timothy, the son of a widow woman that believed, of a father a Gentile.AND he came to Derbé and Lystra. 3Him Paul would have to go forth with him: and taking him he circumcised him because of the Jews that were in those places. 12and from thence to Philippi, which is the first city of the part of Macedonia, a colonia. 15And when she was baptized, and her house, she besought us, saying: If you have judged me to be faithful to our Lord, enter in unto my house, and tarry. 16And it came to pass as we went to prayer, a certain puellam: a lewd or coarse woman (later sense); a girl, a young woman having a pythonem: of soothsaying, oracular divination spirit, met us, that brought great gain to her masters by divining.And it came to passe as vve vvent to praier, a certaine vvenche hauing a Pythonical spirit, mette vs, that brought great gaine to her maisters by diuining.Factum est autem euntibus nobis ad orationem, puellam quamdam habentem spiritum pythonem obviare nobis, quæ quæstum magnum præstabat dominis suis divinando.
17This same following Paul and us, cried saying, These men are the servants of the high God, which preach unto you the way of salvation.This same folovving Paul and vs, cried saying, These men are the seruants of the high God, vvhich preach vnto you the vvay of saluation.Hæc subsecuta Paulum et nos, clamabat dicens : Isti homines servi Dei excelsi sunt, qui annuntiant vobis viam salutis.
18And this she did many days. And Paul being dolens: regretful, apologetic; grieved, pained, vexed, and turning, said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of JESUS CHRIST to go out from her. And he went out the same hour.And this she did many daies. And Paul being sorie, and turning, said to the spirit, I commãd thee in the name of IESVS CHRIST to goe out from her. And he vvent out the same houre.Hoc autem faciebat multis diebus. Dolens autem Paulus, et conversus, spiritui dixit : Præcipio tibi in nomine Jesu Christi exire ab ea. Et exiit eadem hora.

21and they preach a morem: a style or mode of dress; a custom, usage, manner which it is not lawful for us to receive, nor do, being Romans.and they preach a fashion vvhich it is not lavvful for vs to receiue, nor doe, being Romanes.et annuntiant morem quem non licet nobis suscipere neque facere, cum simus Romani.

23And when they had laid many plagas: bands or streaks; lashes, strokes of a whip or rod upon them, they did cast them into prison, commanding the keeper that he should keep them diligently.And vvhen they had laid *many stripes vpon them, they did cast them into prison, commaunding the keeper that he should keepe them diligently.Et cum multas plagas eis imposuissent, miserunt eos in carcerem, præcipientes custodi ut diligenter custodiret eos.

26But suddenly there was made a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken. 27And the keeper of the prison waked out of his sleep, and seeing the doors of the prison opened, drawing out his sword, would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled.And the keeper of the prison vvaked out of his sleepe, and seeing the doores of the prison opened, dravving out his svvord, vvould haue killed him self, supposing that the prisoners had been fled.Expergefactus autem custos carceris, et videns januas apertas carceris, evaginato gladio volebat se interficere, æstimans fugisse vinctos.

30and bringing them forth, he said, Masters, what must I do that I may be saved?and bringing them forth, he said, Maisters, vvhat must I doe that I may be saued?et producens eos foras, ait : Domini, quid me oportet facere, ut salvus fiam ?
31But they said, Believe in our Lord JESUS: and thou shalt be saved and thy house.But they said, Beleeue in our Lord IESVS : and thou shalt be saued and thy house.At illi dixerunt : Crede in Dominum Jesum, et salvus eris tu, et domus tua.
32And they preached the word of our Lord to him with all that were in his house.And they preached the vvord of our Lord to him vvith al that vvere in his house.Et locuti sunt ei verbum Domini cum omnibus qui erant in domo ejus.
33And he taking them in the same hour of the night, washed their wounds: and himself was baptized and all his house continuo: immediately, forthwith.And he taking them in the same houre of the night, vvashed their vvoundes : and him self vvas baptized and al his house incontinent.Et tollens eos in illa hora noctis, lavit plagas eorum : et baptizatus est ipse, et omnis domus ejus continuo.

36And the keeper of the prison told these words to Paul, That the magistrates have sent that you should be let go. now therefore departing, go ye in peace.And the keeper of the prison told these vvordes to Paul, That the magistrates haue sent that you should be let goe. novv therfore departing, goe ye in peace.Nuntiavit autem custos carceris verba hæc Paulo : Quia miserunt magistratus ut dimittamini : nunc igitur exeuntes, ite in pace.
37But Paul said to them: Being whipped openly, uncondemned, men that are Romans, they have cast us into prison: and now do they send us out secretly?
