And the Angel of our Lord went up from Galgal to the place of weepers, and said: I brought you out of Egypt, and have brought you into the Land, for the which I sware to your fathers: and I promised that I would not make make void, of no effect, not to thwart or annoy · Vulgate: irritum (facerem irritum): void, nullified my covenant with you for ever:ANd the Angel of our Lord went vp from Galgal to the place of weepers, and said: I brought you out of Ægypt, and haue brought you into the Land, for the which I sware to your fathers: and I promised that I would not make frustrate my couenant with you for euer:Ascenditque angelus Domini de Galgalis ad Locum flentium, et ait : Eduxi vos de Ægypto, et introduxi in terram, pro qua juravi patribus vestris : et pollicitus sum ut non facerem irritum pactum meum vobiscum in sempiternum,

16And our Lord raised up Judges, that should deliver them from the hands of the ravagers, despoilers who lay a land waste, not squanderers · Vulgate: vastantium: those laying waste: butAnd our Lord raysed vp Iudges, that should deliuer them from the handes of the wasters: butSuscitavitque Dominus judices, qui liberarent eos de vastantium manibus : sed nec eos audire voluerunt,
17neither would they hear them, fornicating with strange gods, and adoring them. They did quickly forsake the way, in the which their fathers had gone: and hearing the commandments of our Lord, they did all things contrary.neither would they heare them, fornicating with strange goddes, and adoring them. 18And when our Lord raised up Judges, in their days he was moved with mercy, and heard the groanings of the afflicted, and delivered them from the slaughter of the wasters.And when our Lord raysed vp Iudges, in their daies he was moued with mercie, and heard the groninges of the afflicted, and deliuered them from the slaughter of the wasters.Cumque Dominus judices suscitaret, in diebus eorum flectebatur misericordia, et audiebat afflictorum gemitus, et liberabat eos de cæde vastantium.
19But after the Judge was dead, they returned, and did much worse things then their fathers had done, following strange gods serving them, and adoring them. 20And the fury of our Lord was angry against Israel, and said: Because this nation hath made my covenant frustrate, which I had made with their fathers, and hath contemned my voice:And the furie of our Lord was angrie against Israel, & said: Because this nation hath made my couenant frustrate, which I had made with their fathers, & hath contemned my voice:Iratusque est furor Domini in Israël, et ait : Quia irritum fecit gens ista pactum meum, quod pepigeram cum patribus eorum, et vocem meam audire contempsit :
21I also will not destroy the nations which Josue did let alone, and died:I also wil not destroy the nations which Iosue did let alone, and died:et ego non delebo gentes, quas dimisit Josue, et mortuus est :
