And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of our Lord: who delivered them into the hand of Madian seven years,AND the children of Israel did euil in the sight of our Lord: who deliuered them into the hand of Madian seuen yeares,Fecerunt autem filii Israël malum in conspectu Domini : qui tradidit illos in manu Madian septem annis,
2and they were sore oppressed of them. 26and thou shalt build an altar to the Lord thy God in the top of this rock, whereupon thou didst lay the sacrifice before: and thou shalt take the second bullock, and shalt offer a a whole burnt offering wholly consumed on the altar, not a catastrophe (a modern secular sense) · Vulgate: holocaustum upon a pile of the wood, which thou shalt cut down out of the grove.and thou shalt build an altar to the Lord thy God in the toppe of this rocke, whereupon thou didst lay the sacrifice before: and thou shalt take the second bullocke, and shalt offer an holocauste vpon a pile of the wood, which thou shalt cut downe out of the groue.Et ædificabis altare Domino Deo tuo in summitate petræ hujus, super quam ante sacrificium posuisti : tollesque taurum secundum, et offeres holocaustum super struem lignorum, quæ de nemore succideris.
27Gedeon therefore taking to him ten men of his servants, did as our Lord had commanded him.
